Losing pressure after changing the front pads

Today I followed the DIY on changing the OEM pads with the HAwk HPS pads, everything went smoothly, and i did bleed the brakes before i put everything back together. When time to test drive the car, I realized that I had to push the brake pedal almost half way in to be able to brake, once it passes the halfway mark then the brakes work perfectly. What could be the cause of the problem?

sounds like a classic case of air in the lines still. bleed all 4 brakes again and see if it fixes the problem

It isn't necessary to bleed the brakes when changing pads and/or rotors. You probably introduced air into the lines when you cracked the bleeder screws open.

What method did you use to bleed the brakes?

I know this is an old topic, but Im pretty sure you should have just pumped up the brakes before you drove the car, so your fine now that its pumped up.
