New Brakes
New Brakes
Hey Guys,
I'm about to do a first brake job on my Auto. 04 G couple with 41K miles - seems both front and back are on their last breath. 2 part question:
1: Did you go with original brake pads/rotors for replacement, or did you go aftermarket (if so, whats good and whats not - i'm not interested in high performance, just something on par with stock)
2: If you did go with original, did you take it to your personal mech. or Infiniti dealership? And how much did it cost you (just the front, or just the back, or both).
Thanks!
PS: I'm hoping to change the fronts,to original or aftermarket, for ~400, is that possible?

If you aren't changing the brakes yourself, I wouldn't go to the dealer to have the work done. Go to an independent shop.
You don't have to use OEM rotors and pads. Most people don't because they are expensive when bought from the dealer.
I have used www.r1concepts.com rotors with good results. They sell pads too. You can get them for a good price.

If you know how to do it (which its not hard) then do it yourself. You'll save quite a bit of $$$ that way. I changed my front pads and rotors for less than half of what the dealer quoted me. like gilley said, if you have to pay someone to do it, go to a local brake shop. You mentioned you wanted something "on par" with stock. then buy stock pads. Why pay more for pads if you are looking for the same performance. Here's a place i use, they carry oem and aftermarket, very inexpensive imo. www.everythinginfiniti.com
