HELP, need info on 350Z/G35 suspension

I know a guy that's selling a complete 350Z suspension package, springs, shocks, rotors, calipers. If the brakes aren't the Brembo editions, are they any different from the G35 Sedan's brakes? Also aren't all 04 350Z's equipped with the "euro" shocks that do not have the bounce? Isn't there a date to check? Thanks

I posted copies of printouts I got from my dealer showing 2004 350z spring and shock part numbers HERE. There seems to be general acceptance that a change in 350z coupe (not roadster) springs and shocks came about in Dec '03...but look carefully, and you will see that the part number change dates on the printouts do not support that belief.

The Nissan north american parts department is going to have a different agenda then to mirror the dates of running changes that have occured in Japan. Especially if they have a supply of older spec'd shocks in inventory. Sometimes checking the parts department is a great way to check things, here I don't see it as being a litmus test. To much data is out to change the notion that all 04 roadsters and Z's produced after 11/30/03 isn't when the running changes happened. Maybe the parts departments could order the newer setup before that timeline, but production reality remains as stated above. Buyers of 04 setups off owner cars, beware.

Re: HELP, need info on 350Z/G35 suspension

Given the reported differences, buyers want to be 100% certain of what they're buying. And, unless there is some factual collaboration, I can understand why some would be reluctant to base their decision on heresay rather than fact. Certainly there could have been a 3 month inventory of old parts to work into production but again, with all due respect, my question is...how exactly do we know that?

Nobody at my four local dealerships can find any supporting evidence of any inventory workdown or running production change date from any source, only the parts change dates. And that includes inquires thru their tech support system - supposedly the top tech info source. Each claims to have exhausted every available resource in their pursuit of the answer. I am not necessarily questioning the validity, but what exactly is the source of this information everyone seems to be taking as the gospel?

Of course, none of this would matter a lick if there was a part number stamping on a shock that could be referenced directly. If someone has a 350z front or rear shock handy, '03 or '04 pre and post Dec '03 buildplate, please take a look. Doesn't help distinguish the springs, but might help clear confusion with the f/r shocks at least.

Oh, I can REALLY see the need for being sure about IF the used suspension your wanting to buy is a revised setup or if the seller is telling the truth about his build date.

Do the part numbers in Nissan's computer system equal the same exact numbers on the parts themselves?

I dunno, do you have one handy? If it turns out to be yes, assuming the newer parts or seller honesty is an issue for the buyer, then it does seem like the best way to be certain.
