Wayne. The brake line is split and connected to each caliper. Hence the reason why the calipers look tiny or there is a massive master cylinder. Or the owner does a rice move and pushes the pedal down 1/2 way before anything happens

Couldn't tell from your picture whether the tires were Toyo or not.
Like I said, a long shot.
In that case, i would have to say 100% look-at-me-I-spend-money. Completely unnecessary.
In production cars though like the Viper and the Murcielago in the rear have a brembo caliper with an opposing single piston clamp style caliper used solely for e-brake because they chose to not go with an integral-drum design like ours:
