optimal shifts?
What are the optimal shift points for a stock MT coupe? I shift a little into redline, but I'd like to get an idea from all you edumacated people.

According to the Owners manual:
1st to 2nd: 8 mph
2nd to 3rd: 16 mph
3rd to 4th: 25 mph
4th to 5th: 28 mph
5th to 6th: 33 mph
Follow this suggestion and you can probably do a 1/4 mile in under 14 minutes.

Yeah, I saw that in the Owners Manual also. I tried shifting into 6th at 35mph and boy did it feel bad. The engine sounded like it didn't like it at all, and there was absolutely no response when I mashed on the throttle. It was so uncomfortable and I don't even know if 33mph @ 6th gear is even the most fuel efficient. There is a lot less stress at 33mph in 3rd gear than 33mph in 6th gear (less stress means less gas used by the engine, very generally speaking though).

Ok, here are my thoughts.
1st - 2nd: 2.5-3k rpm (normal driving); >3k rpm (racing)
2nd - 3rd: same idea
So on streets I drive around 1.5k rpm, 30mph (at 4th gear), 40mph (at 5th gear), etc.
