Compression Rod Bushings

It is my understanding that only the compression rod bushings can be replaced instead of the rod. Has anyone had this done and how much was it?

I have not had it done but I read somewhere, I can't remember where, that it's something new from Infiniti to be able to replace just the bushings. I hope it's true, it should save a significant amount of money. If done right they should be good as new. Check with a dealer, I believe the process requires a special tool.

I'm in need of compression rods ( lots of squeeks and creeks ) but they are just way too expensive. If I could only buy the bushings then I'd be all over it.

You should be able to replace the bushings with polyurethane ones. I think (not sure) the Infiniti ones are made of rubber, which cracks, hardens and rots away over time. The process is fairly straightforward and requires no special tools. Depending on how rusted over the bolts and nuts are, this can determine how long it will take you to remove the OEM ones. In a previous car, I had to use a breaker bar to break the nuts free- the ones that mount the compression rod to the lower link. I used PB Blaster and let it sit overnite to loosen the rusted out nuts. It took me >3 hours to do it, and that was with some help.

On the G, I spray an excellent grade lubricant on all moving suspension parts, such as the K Member, to reduce the squeeks. It works for about a month but will wash out during the winter due to the road salt and the fact that I spray-wash the undercarriage at least weekly.

you can replace the whole entire compression rod. i believe its about 180 for one side. you can check riverside infiniti. they usually have them in stock. PM rick@riversideinfiniti he should give you answer. i got my bushings replaced by the dealer for about $500. if you were to change out the compression rods its about $1000 >_<

Is there a part number for the bushings?

I might call the Infiniti dealer to see if this is a valid part number, or if they can supply an equivalent bushing.

Hopefully they will fit the Z, anyone knows?

The dealer said #54570-AC70A was a "rod cushion" and was around $20. I don't think this is an actual bushing for the compression rod. Anyone else clarify?
