NRG (Richie V2) Strut bar from Statik Performance fitment issue
I just received my NRG strut bar from Statik Performance (mrwong) and it was one hell of bar trying to fit. After doing some search, it seems I wasn't the only one but I still want to get some inputs.
So I've mount the two brackets first then attempting to mount the bar, it seems the bar is a bit longer (like everyone said) and it was hard for me to put the screw into one of the side. However, I some how manage to force the bar and screw in the bolt. But I'm not quite sure how tight I've made since it was already hard to put the screw in. So i'm worried that if I put some stress on the body it may go loose and pop up the bulge my hood.
Also, if looking from the top of my engine, the back side of the bar seems to sit a bit higher than the front side.
Can someone give me some input if it sounds like a right installation for this strut bar? or do I still need to tighten it down? or is this bar just not a right fit?
Thanks

Thanks.
I think I will stop by a body shop and see if they can help me tighten those nuts & bolts down a bit more to ensure everything is tight down.
Working on car w/o the proper tool is really a painful process (looks at his bloody hand).
Anyone else willing to chime in?

The car was on the ground when I installed it.
It seems i have it all the way at the lowest and it's just barely touching my inner hood (the pads) which I can live with. However, when I was mounting the bar, I installed the driver side first then passenger side. When installing the passenger side, I kind of push the bar a bit so I can fit the screw the bracket & the bar it makes me worry that later if I put stress on the body it may come loose (if not tightened down) and move up while driving and potentially bulge my hood in the meantime.
Are you guys having the same issue during installation?

Here's the problem I'm having. Do I have bad one?

As you can see, bar itself doesn't exactly align with the bracket; therefore, the screw was extermely hard to insert. But I somehow manage to get it in, but now I can't tighten them down because the screw is basically stuck. I can't get it out or in. The nuts may be threaded too so I'm gonna have to stop by a body shop to have them use a power drill to force to get the screw out for me to uninstall this, which means I'm gonna have to pay more........
What a nightmare this has become.....

I wouldn't leave it like that.
Take the whole thing off including the brackets and start over from scratch.
Try only finger tightening the brackets untill the bar is in. I would also try jacking the front up from a center point and letting the front wheels hang. If there is any strut tower flex like you are trying to eliminated with the bar maybe they will flex out a little and make the bar easier to install.

The 2nd problem I'm having now is the nuts is now threaded out. Going to have a body shop to use a machine to force it out and then try to get the bar out. I will most likely need whole new screw and nuts. Where would I get these?
So this fitment issue looks ok?

Mine was like that as well.
I just use a long screwdriver and insert it between the end of the bar and the bracket and I bend the bar slightly. This gives me enough leverage to move the bar up a fraction of an inch so I can insert it all the way through and then tighten the nut down on the other side. Been doing that for a year with no issues.

i have the problem with this strut bar.. after installing it my hood doesnt close properly.. i can manage to close it but pushing it really hard.. but now the strut bar bulges out from my hood.. you can see that the hood is sticking up from where the strut bar sits.. i took it out becuase i didnt want damage to my hood.. how can i make it fit without cutting it??

Everything was fine with mine until I tried to close the hood. The bar was at its lowest point and, even with the hood liner off, the bar was pushing against my hood hard enough to make it bulge out when closed.
I'm not knocking the bar. It seems to be a great product but it seems to have some fitment issues with some cars, but not with others. It has made me a little hesitant in pulling the trigger on a few other bars as well.
Richie has great customer service though, and gave me a full refund after a conversation with him via PM.
