It's all what you are looking for, I loved the stock feel on my brembos. Went for Hawk HPS this time hoping for even a little more and instead they are squishy like my old f-150. They are terrible pads if you are looking for really hard breaking. Im extremely dissatisfied.

I need to do the brakes on my '06. I'm going with OEM pads. I don't really want to put "performance" pads on my daily driver. I'm satisfied with the performance, quietness, and low dusting of the OEM pads. I am not an aggressive driver anyway.

Anyone know a good source for the OEM pads? I haven't checked the dealer yet, but do any of the online vendors/dealers sell them at a good price?

Other than the dust issue as noted on the 03 & 04 I'd stick with OEM. They do create a sh*tload of brake dust but work very well.

I'm guessing there's a substantial improvement in the OEM brake pads after 05?

Not really. In terms of dust, yes. But they are actually less aggressive pads. Why? Because they don't have to be in order to maintain the world class 60-0 times. It's no longer relying soley on the pad to achieve this

I went with Hawk hps. I like how they are not as grabby as the oems and they definitely dust less. However, I find that they still do dust quite a bit.

I just checked ebay and OEM pads for my '06 are $53. OEM front rotors are $175/pair.

I just ordered new pads and rotors. Toss in a bottle of brake fluid and i'll install next sunny Saturday. Dealer quote was rediculous. I did check and they were right, my front pads are down to almost nothing. I was going to just cut the rotors, but I just prefer all new stuff when it comes to brakes.

My rears are good for now.

Next up, tranny flush and AWD service. Gotta look into seeing if this is something I can do myself too.

Well that begs the question, what else is it relying on? And being less aggressive would mean better wear?

Increased leverage and clamping force.

05-06 Brakes are larger diameter rotors and dual piston calipers up front (except the 05X which gets 03-04 sedan brakes for some reason)

On paper, the 05-06 brakes should outperform the 03-04 brakes, but IIRC that is not the case and the 03-04 stops a few feet shorter due to the highly aggressive pads. The downside is they dust like a ****. So nissan changed the pad material and had to mechanically redesign the entire brake system to achieve basically the same performance. Same deal with my '07 IS250. Look at any you see on the road and front wheels are usually black. There is a TSB for a low-dust pad, but you lose a little performance.

The 05-06 brakes are 12.6" front and 12.1" in diameter. The 03-04's are around 11 to 11.5" and single piston up front.
