Brakes Brembo to Non Brembo Downgrade for max wheel fitment?

hello everyone,

I'm searching for a friend/customer if swapping non brembo calipers onto a brembo(03/04) equiped g35 coupe is just the same if one were to swap brembos onto a non brembo equipped g35?

I searched, and all I find is non brembo owners upgrading to brembos, from the research, It seems very straight forward both ways, but I wanted to make a thread to be sure.

Would brake bais be changed? Are the brake master cyl and brake booster any different? How about the brake lines and the abs lines?

Of course this will not be for performance, this car is daily driven with stock power. Only upgrades will be suspension and big wheels that will need the least amount of brake clearance for o-disk/big lipped hub/wheel faces.

Plus, the owner can make a few bucks selling his brembos+trade for non brembos.

Well, thanks in advance.

I'll take that bet if someone wants to give up their Brembo set up for my stock brakes.

I thought the swap was calipers, pads, rotors, and lines.

from my research, that seems like all but I was wondering if their were any differences in bmc and brake booster...since the brembo's are bigger I would think the bmc and booster would be too.

You need the booster to do the swap.

the master cylinders are different, but most people don't swap them and they are usually ok. If you are going to do this swap, at the very least go with an 05+ brake swap. I still think this a very bad idea, and overall, a setup with a slightly smaller lip and brembos looks WAY better than a wheels with an additional 1/2" of lip and no brembos

Brembo-equipped cars had a slightly larger BMC bore (1.06" vs. 1" for non-Brembo), as well as a different brake booster with two diaphragms. The Brembo-equipped booster diaphragm diameters were 8 and 9", while the non-Brembo cars came with 10".

I would agree with other posters that this would be a bad mod, as it's likely that once you but big wheels on downgraded brakes, you'll end up adding unsprung rotating mass and the downgraded brakes may no longer be able to induce lock up, at least on repeated braking. It would also devalue the car in the event your friend/customer wants to sell it down the road.

there's some pretty aggressive setups w/ brembos out there. not sure why you would want to do this.

whats aggressive to you guys? 9.5 width with a +10 - +25ish offset?

with the non brembo caliper setup, we're planning on running either a 10 or 10.5 " wheel up front, with an offset in between +0 - +10.....and of course stretch tire and camber...

rears will be an 11" wheel with an offset in between +0 - +10...
front lip will be around 5inchs and rear will be 5.5 inches...

i can make it happen, and like i said this car will not have any power upgrades, just wheels/suspension as it's a daily driver.

thanks for your worthless input
besides increasing your post count, you did not help at all,

please, you and everyone else who doesn't like the idea, if you don't have any correct technical input to post, don't post at all

thanks

What is stopping you from running those offsets with brembos? Does a 10.5+0 fit differently on a nonbrembo car? The only thin you sacrifice is lip size. Even then it isn't much, and really only in the front. The rear can run a relatively low disk without an issue. the rotor hat size is large and accommodates the rear caliper well enough

when u go with that big of a wheel up front, you want the least amount of clearance between the brakes and wheel faces. As minimal it may seem, by running non brembo calipers, just the 2-5mm closer to the caliper would help with correcting camber and still let the owner achieve the lip sizes he want on the wheel.

How does caliper clearance have anything to do with camber?

Agreed. Sometimes I do wish I had smaller brakes to go with smaller discs and deeper dish wheels, but I'd never give up the looks/performance of the Brembos.
