Question 350z Sway Bar/Suspension Question

My cousin has a 04 350z that he's building for autocross, so I'm getting hand-me-downs, YAY!
My question is are the sway bars are an upgrade for my 03.0 Sedan or are they the same, don't fit, etc... I've searched but can't find an answer.
Also, I've read a lot on here about people using z springs in the front and coupe springs in the back but I'm still a little unclear on all the details especially when it comes to the shocks. So can I just use his springs and shocks all the way around or is that a bad idea?

Ok, after more searching I still haven’t found out if the sway bars from a 350Z are an upgrade, but I could just measure them next time I'm in Louisiana.
The question I really need answered though is if I can use 350Z springs and shocks all the way around and what are the pros/cons of doing so.

Just get the springs and shocks from your cousin. The only reason you would need shocks is if you don't have sport package on your car now, but since its free just put them on too. As for the sway bars...don't bother with them because they are the same as the ones on your sedan. As for coupe springs people use them instead of the 350z is because it only drops the rear 0.5" and makes the car level instead of squatting more in the rear. The 350z springs will make your car handle better.

Cool, thanks. I thought that may be the reason for the coupe springs, but for now I'll go with the Z springs and see how it goes.
I don't think I have the sport package but I'll check (red shocks right?)

yeah if you dont have sport package use his struts and shocks if hes not using them. You will get a 1-1.5" drop in front and a 1" drop in the back.

The advantage to the z shocks is that the housing is 3/4" shorter which allows for more wheel travel with the z drop. More travel is always a good thing.

Same topic so I am asking here instead of making my own thread.

Can I put Z springs in the front and coupes in the rear if I am running on non sport shocks and struts? What problems will I have doing so?

you will prematurely wear your shocks and struts, and the ride will be sloppy and unpredicatable, becuase the spring rates are softer on the non-sport model. The sedan sport package uses the same spring rate as the Z front and unrevised Z/G rear springs. Your best option would be to do a full Z suspension swap.

What if I just installed coupe springs and left it at that? same problem?

Or installed coupe shocks with Z/coupe springs?

yes same problem. Your shocks are not dialed in for the stiffer spring rates. If you installed coupe springs in the rear you would want to get the coupe shocks too.

I completly swapped all the struts/shocks out of my 05 sport sedan with an 05 350z. I think if i remember correctly, the shocks were a tad shorter to deal with less suspension travel, not to mention they match perfectly with the z springs. I am VERY happy with the end result and don't feel the rear is too "saggy". Handling is DEFINTELY better and the new stance is perfect. I'm still running my OEM 18's and now realize how weak the offset is on those wheels. They're way too tucked into the fender well for my liking. BTW, did a full swap myself and a buddy in about 3 hours with basic tools. Easy!

So my current plan is z shocks and struts all-round, z springs in the front and coupe springs in the back.

Now you just need a good exhaust.

I gotta get busy and put my Z stuff on one of these weekends.
