True Rear Coilover VS Oem Style Coilover

Hey guys, I was just wondering what the PROS and CONS are between True rear coilover and Oem Style Coilover.

I have searched and didn't find anything.

Thanks for your help...

True rear coilover is when you have the spring on the shock body

OEM Coilovers are aftermarket coilovers that keep the spring and shock body seperate OEM style.

I prefer seperate since there is a train of thought that the shock mounting location was not meant to support the strain of the springs compressing and uncompressing. It has also been said that the bearing where the shock mounts might be weak and wear out before their lifespan.

Then they are technically not coil overs. They are just springs and shocks.

They are still coilover since you can adjust height and preload separately apart from dampening in most.

I know we are nitpicking here. But isn't the exact definition of a true coil over a " coil spring over strut" configuration? With a seperate strut and spring setup, even if adjustable, the coil spring is not "over" the strut.

Not that it matters and we are getting away from the OP's question.
