Clunking Sound from Drive Side Front.
Clunking Sound from Drive Side Front.
Hi Everyone, I need a little help here please. I have a clicking and clunking noice coming from the driver side front at low speeds when going over bumps/cracks in the road. The weird thing is, is that when I touch the brake softly it does not make the noice when going over bumps, so it can't be the sway bar or the compression rod. I have already replaced the front wheel bearings, Stab Links, brake pads and had the calipers inspected. Anybody have any ideas?

dude .. i am going thru the same crap.. i haven't replaced anything yet . but... i just got new rear tires... haha.. it started happening about an hr after i got the rear tires installed... but the noise/clunk/whatever it is, is coming from the front...
Why could it NOT be the compression rod? If you are stepping on the brake softly as you go over a bump that would imply that it makes the noise when you go over a bump withOUT pressing the brake softly. Therefore there is more "impact" on the rod and thus it is more likely to make a noise.
You might be right, but the brakes have nothing to do with that compression rod. Thats why I don't think that its the problem. Whether the brakes are on or off, it does not change the way the compession rod moves.
