Akebono Brakes Don't Fit - Need help ! Rim selection?

Well, pretty damn disappointed now. Purchased a set of the 14" Akebono brakes for my 2004 G35 Sedan, and even had them powdercoated by Mike.

Anyways, the fitment guide looked good prior to installing on my 19"x8" (40 offset) TSW Nogaro rims, but the internal spokes are hitting the calipers. Need probably about another 1/4-1/2" clearance.

Anyone have any recommendations on rims that would provide more of the internal rim clearance? I tried calling several tire dealers, but as soon as you mention "big brakes" they want nothing to do with you.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Easy, just get some spacers. U can definitely push lower offsets on your sedan.

Get a spacer. If you want new wheels just make sure they have a high disc for BBK clearance. Offset has nothing to do with clearing brakes!

Where can you get spacers?

And these would just slip on between the rotor surface and the wheel on the wheel bolt pattern?

Thanks that makes me feel better.

I'm so disappointed now, i'm sick to my stomach!

you can get them from vendors here, i'd recommend getting 15mm bolt on's that way you dont need to replace the studs!

OP where are you located?

I have Akebonos with Volk CE28N – clears no problem… but I have flared fenders so I need more aggressive offsets – I might be selling my wheels… additionally, I have 25mm spacers (to fill out flare until I get different wheels), but they are about 5 mm to thick, so I might be getting rid of them to get 20mm spacers.

If you are local and either of these options is of interest to you, let me know.

Well, just bought some Ichaba V2 15mm spacers to help clear the brakes. Right now i have the TSW Nagaro rims (19x8" with 40mm offset), which with tires look almost flush to the fender.

Just hope it doesn't look stupid - i'm hoping 15mm doesn't make much difference in looks. Keeping my fingers crossed . . .

i've got a quick question.. how much clearance from the outside of the caliper to the inside of the wheel (generally) do you need to clear a bbk kit... ?? i have less than an inch from my new wheels.. i have stock brakes on an 05.. was wondering if maybe i can even get stock 03-04 brembos and do a swap... i live in oc.. if i can meet anybody so they can take a look i would be stoked..

It depends on the kit, they are all different.
Most of them will provide a test fit template that you can try.

You have a 05 coupe or sedan? I think the 05 coupe came with the graphite 18s which cleared the oem brembos. Which wheels do you have?
