IMHO the problem isn't "preload", it's the valving. OEM shocks aren't valved strong enough to handle a spring that has a rating higher than the oem spring.

The Z shocks just give you another 1" of travel before bottoming out and damaging your shock.

If the valving was okay and you never bottomed out the shock, the oems would be fine.

I don't know the spring rating of the spring you have. If it's near oem, you're fine with the revised Z units. They are so cheap to find used anyway, you an replace them all the time and not have it cost much

G35 Stock spring rates are:
F 314
R 427

350z H-Tech spring rates are:
F 358
R 375

350Z H-Tech are progressive springs. So those numbers do grow once you compress them

Seems like the Z shocks are fine (as already mentioned)

How do you know your oem shocks weren't up to the task?

But I want it to be right for another 90k.

And I don't wanna settle for something that "should work"

I want something that is absolutely right.

90k is good amount of mileage for any shock.

The reason why I went with Z shocks is becuase my car is lowered. Which results in my your shocks/struts being compressed more by about 2" on a normal basis. I went with Z shocks/struts that have shorter lengths to accomodate that shortened height.

well as I have said before my springs are shorter than 350Z oem springs.

So if I go with OEM 350Z shocks they still be compressed more than they should during normal operations.

yeah, I know I might sound a bit annoying with all this.

I just want what's best for my G.

The only reason to run the Z shocks is for the greater amount of piston travel before it bottoms out!
