problem with BC coils
problem with BC coils
Hey guys i just installed my new buddyclub coilover on my g35x, and i put them on and lowered the front about another 7-8 threads and i preloaded the spring a tad to compensate for the small drop. Everytime i hit a decent sized bump/hole/crack in the road, i get a big thud coming from the side than hit the bump. What is this thud? I have no installed my front camber kits yet. Is it the strut bottoming out? I had put the damper to 12 from soft but then lowered it back down to the factory 8 and is still doing it.
Someone please help me out here, im new to coilovers

I think more information is need here a "big thud" is not the most descriptive thing. I highly doubt your strut is bottoming out, unless something is broken with the strut itself. What do you mean by "preloaded" the springs?
FYI, BC Racing isn't buddyclub. Anyway, if the coils are somewhat the same as the coupe, the front should have been preloaded straight out of the box and no necessary preloading was needed. Then again, I'm unfamiliar with the AWD coils...hopefully the G35x owners will chime in.
Also, the BC coils often have the thud noise hitting bumps at low speeds, but this is usually in the rear.

well i mean i had lowered the from a little bit more, so i just preloaded the spring a little bit more, nothing crazy.
But the thud noise is gone, now im having an issue with the front passanger side, keeps sounding like something is lose, but ive checked 3 times and nothing is lose, idk what to do

oh ok well i can always bring the spring down from whaat i did, i only move them up like 2 or 3 threads, nothing major

Yes it could be the camber a-arms hitting the strut but it seams unlikely since Mcaron has said he is only lowered 7-8 threads. I am dropped pretty low with these coilovers (although i dont have an "x" so this may all be irrelevant) and I do not hit or have a banging sound from my coils. But like I said the "x" may be a different beast in and of itself.
ok well idk what it was but when i looked at my strut tower in my wheel well, there was only 1 mark on each side and i know exactly which bump it was from so it was doing it all the time, but i put my apc camber arms in and the "thud" is all gone, except on BIG bumps.
Now my problem is on the passage front, it sounds as if something is loose, sounds like metal on metal. Yesterday i went under there 2 differant times and retourque everything aagian, echecked for anything loose, and saw nothing. Not sure what it is
