How do I determine what to buy as a replacement for a revised 350Z shock?

I recently purchased a 2006 350Z full revised setup here on the forums however, the front drivers side center post was stripped completely and I was unable to install the set.

Does anyone know how to tell what model the setup I have came from? We read the numbers on the shock off to Nissan and Infiniti and they said I needed the VIN # off the 350Z to determine what shocks to order for replacement but that is unattainable at this time. Is there another way to tell? Maybe the color dots on the springs? The revised front springs have 1 pink dot and the rear springs have 1 purple and 2 red dots on them.

I need to find a drivers side front shock replacement to make a complete set. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Everytime I have ever looked at the Nissan part's computer, it alway's lists a shock as being superceeded. So, if you try to order the right shock, if that part number has been superceeded, you will get the new part, not the one you ordered. I do not see how you can get the exact match you need new because of this. The shocks you have were produced in 2004.5 and 2005. In 2006 they changed again with no discussion from Nissan about why they changed and what was changed. IMO, I would not roll the dice and attempt to run a 06/08 front shock with a 04.5/05 front shock.

That being said, I am sitting on a single rear 04.5/05 shock. Useless to you since you need a front shock, point is I would do a WTB post asking for a single front shock. "Wanted one revised 350Z front shock passenger side part# 56110-CD700" "I bought a used suspension and one of the front shocks is stripped, can you help a brother out?"

When you say, "the front drivers side center post is striped". Do you mean the piston shaft threads that the upper shock mount bolts on? Why not use a tap and die?

Correct, piston shaft threads. I do not have a "tap and die" though I know what you mean... just re-thread the post. I suppose I could look into that.
