I have a 05 g35..non brembo set up.. no aftermarket parts.. Any recommendations on brake pads other than project mu?

I'll never put Hawks on any of my vehicles again. Terrible squealing, wore down unevenly (on brand new rotors) and were absolutely terrible, to top that off, nobody wanted to warranty them or help me out.

 

Really? I have never had an issue with their pads. These pMU pads I have now are garbage and I wish I would have stayed with Hawk =(

 

Yea me and my buddy both had issues with them mine being the G and his is a Dodge Magnum. So very different vehicles.

They were hyped up like the best things since slotted rotors

 

i've had great experiences w/Project Mu B-Force and Hawk HPS, LOL

 

^ HPS and Hawk blue (on a friends track car) The blue were half decent but they woe out way to quick.

For the 1000+ times I've done brakes I don't think I could make an error. I swapped the pads that came off (OEM) and everything was back to normal, so I switched to all EBC and brakes have been mint since.

OEM wears too fast. Go with Hawk HPS.

 

What are some of the brake pads that are cheaper than oem and better? I'm going to need some new pads here soon and am just trying to gather some information and figure out which pads to get. I also need new tires but thats for another thread. Thanks for any help.

 

I had hawk hps pads on my g35 with brembos and they SUCKED! I have project mu NS pads on my g37 and they are so much better than stock in every way with little dust and get better with mileage. I also thought about the endless SSY pads ($104), which also got great reviews and give better than stock initial bite.

I wouldn't skimp on brakes if I were you. Brakes and tires are going to be the things stopping you from holy $hit, that was close or I wish I got better brake components situations.

Look at Axxis Ultimate pads. They get pretty good reviews and are cheaper than oem.

 

Yeah very true thanks for the advice. I'll definitely have to look into those pads. It's a shame about the hawk pads, I've heard a lot of negative remarks about their quality.

 

I had HPS Hawk Pads after my OEM's wore out. In the summer they had less fade than the factory pads on the 05 coupe. However, If you live in a wet or cold climate where you get frequent rain and snow, stay away from Hawk HPS pads. They have no initial bite. They are down right dangerous. Its like you're braking system stopped working. Be prepared to stand on your brakes even when you get out of park in the winter.

I through those POS away even when there were 50% of the pad left. I talked to Eddie at Performance Nissan and he recommended Project Mu B-Force or NS pads for their initial bite. Overall after two seasons of winter and summer driving on the B-Force, they have been a dream. The initial bite is similar to factory without the fade after several hard stops. There is very little brake dust compared to factory.

If cost is your main concern, you should just get the OEM pads from Performance Nissan (MyNismo.com) for $48 Front and $62 for the rears.

You shouldn't skimp on lower quality brake pads or tires if you value your life. Replacement parts on G's aren't cheep!
