I was referring to the first pic Jairen posted...
oh, nothing new to a lot of us. just tired of seeing stance noobs post, "how is hellaflush not funtional?" it's purely for style, witch i'm fine with. i do think it look's great w/in reason, but it really get's on my nerves when disillusioned drivers try and use purpose built drift cars as an example of how "functional" the setup on their car is.
I'm in no way comparing FD cars to my own car at all (although if I read what I wrote I would probably feel that as well haha) What I am saying is that being slammed and stretched does have it's function. It is not the MOST functional (definitely not the most) but stretching and lowering serves a purpose. Stretching tires increases the rigidity of the sidewall making them stiff to drift with. Drifting on stretched tires there is waaay more control than drifting on say an over sized tire or even a proper sized tire. I'm not talking out my *** there, I know that from experience.
So, on a daily driver is it functional? Depends what you mean. Does my car get me from point A to point B. Yes. Therefore it serves its sole function. Will 225/35s on a 10 do well for me when I want to track my car, no. But I don't track my DD.
I think too many ***** get stuck on the fact that they see herro JDM cars in Japan land on stretched tires and an inch from the ground and think that is a drift car. Sure that car drifts, but it isn't a drift "built" car.
I feel your last couple posts were directed at me, so decided to chime in and let you know what I actually think.
Now lower your car more.
no need to explain Sir, wasn't directed toward you. ur post just happen to fall where it did. yeah, being able to break traction at lower speeds w/less power is def functional for drifters. as for me and more low, i really need to load my car up before i take pix for now on, LOL. it sits perfect w/5 people in it, hahahahah. yeah, still my DD so i need the ground clearance, i know it would def look better and there's def still some handling gains to be made from coils.
It appears that many posters are unaware that race and drift cars usually change the points where the coilovers are attached. Doing this allows proper handling AND low ride height.
JUST dropping super low does not improve handling.
JUST dropping super low does not improve handling.
No one is claiming that, at least not in this thread, that slamming your ride improves handling. For those of us that have posted in this thread that are slammed, we have done so for looks.

yah but I notice that at 160 you tend to break the sound barrier and the VQ exhaust tone becomes more alive during this time. This observation has been put through rigorous scientific experimentation by top notch(industry word) scientists.
