if they are in good shape, sand them down with 600 grit wet/dry and clean with a prep solvent. wipe with a tack cloth and you're ready to paint.

I was going to give them to auto explosion to have them paint them. I wanted to take them apart and clean them, but i think there is more to it that i don't know. I don't think i want to split them. Is there more to it?

no need to split them. use presol (cleaner solvent) to degrease, sand them, or scuff them with a red 3m scuff pad, and they are ready to go. if you are handing them over to a shop for paint, they're going to do their own prep anyway.

I was lucky on this set.

So if i just take out the break pads and clean it then, the shop should do the rest since they have to prep it right?

if i were you, i would take a bathroom scrub brush (plastic) and clean them with dawn dishwash soap. if the shop will give you a discount for doing your own prep work, sand it with 600 grit wet/dry or scuff it well with a red 3m scuff pad. if you get one price without a discount for prep, just remove everything you don't want painted and take it to them so they can do what they need to do for prep.
