Does it only happen when the car sits in the cold overnight? If I let my car sit overnight in the cold, when I first get in the brake is "STUCK" and I cant push it down unless I pump the brake for about 1 minute. It then looses up and works like normal.

I was reading some other nissan forums and other people have experienced this too. There were suggestions to bleed all 4 brake lines because there could be air or moisture in the lines. There was also mention that it could possibly be the rubber vacuum hose going to the brake booster. I would bleed the lines first (I will be doing this soon) and if that doesn't work take it to a mechanic to look at the brake booster. But this is definitely not normal. I didnt realize my brakes werent working and I flew through a stop sign because the brakes did not work. Luckily nobody was around but it really scared me. I check the brakes to make sure they arent stuck before I drive anywhere now.

yea seems like it might have something to do with the weather cus it seems like it only happens when its cold or on rainy days. but once i start the car the brake works fine and normal. i jus figured its something similar to the afffect of when the cars off and u pump the brake pedal it slowly gets stiffer and stiffer till u cant depress it no more. still not normal?

Your issue is different than mine, but since the brakes work after you start up the car I think you are fine. As long as they arent getting stuck when you start up, I wouldnt worry about it.

It's a vacuum booster.

Try this. Start car. Turn car off. Pump the pedal a few times. It should get harder. This is normal as you purge vacuum from the booster. Now, put your foot on the pedal and press lightly and start the car. Pedal should sink. This is also normal.

Now, compare to when you notice the pedal is "stuck" and see if it feels the same. If itmis, then you are losing vacuum when the car is off...prob due to a leak. Check the brake booster check valve and replace grommet and valve if needed

Take some carb cleaner. Spray small bursts around the vacuum hoses in the area of the booster.

If the idle rises a bit, you have a vacuum leak. Make sure the grommet is not dried out and it's seated tightly. Check hoses for cracks. Might be a little more involved if you do have a leak.

It could also be somewhat normal for the booster to lose vacuum. I'll have tomcheck to see if mine has vac in the am.
