well i put my new wheels on the car and as i was torquing the lug nut something stripped out .. i was mad !!! i talked to a mechanic about getting the front wheel off the car and he said well i may have to damage the wheel and im like " damn well i just bought them and took a few weeks to get in" and he said well sorry.. so i brought it home and tired a few things but couldn't get he wheel off ... the stud and lug nut would both just spin .. so here is what me and my ol man came up with to remove it and drill out the stud ... keep in mind these are case hardin studs for my 20mm spacer ... i had a mechanic next door come over and look and in 30 years of working he thought it was a really good creation...

yes you can just drill out the stud and go from there but this is what we came up with to get a perfect straight hole thru the stud

reason we did this WAS to save my rim and not bang it up bad and it came out with one tiny scratch

Started with a 17 mm deep well socket --- taped incase of scratching the inside of the wheel
Welded a 1" nut & 1" x 3/4" sleeve at the end --- to hold with a wrench so the lug nut and stud wont move
With the inside dia. of the sleeve at 3/4" we then cut the following sleeves to be inserted for drill bits
When drilling out the hub stud we progressed in the following sizes:
3/4" to 3/16" as the pilot bit, then went to:
3/4" to 1/4" then to:
3/4" to 3/8" then to:
3/4" to 1/2" which removed the stud

Note: You will need to use 6" drill bits because of the depth need to drill out

here are the pictures

went today and bought a new hub and put everything back together :-)

thanks everyone for looking at this .. i thought it was really cool

Glad you got the wheel off with no scratches, Chris.

Looks like a pretty handy tool you made for drilling out the stud.

I see a patent in the works lol
