How To Adjust Rear Shock Height? & More.

I have my rears lowered about 3" from stock height, and I noticed that the installer didn't adjust the rear shocks accordingly. So my ride is extremely bouncy. I've read around on how to do it, but I got in there today and didn't know what to adjust.

So question is, how do I adjust the length of the shocks in the rear? Do I spin the one and only gold ring on the shock? Also, can I do this on the car without endangering myself or the suspension? I'm not talking about dampening either.

I found a thread after searching and say Snakes' G's post, and I kind of get what he says, but I need clarification... - https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-cou...ock-hight.html

Please and thank you. I have some pictures for you to show you what I'm looking at.

Pt. 2

Also after searching around for the shock height thread, I found this thread - https://g35driver.com/forums/v36-diy...r-install.html

It shows the spring mounted in a different way than mine, so did the installer do it wrong as well? I really trusted this installer, but I'm now doubting what he did. Pics below.

Yup, your springs are installed incorrectly. Take the springmount (rubber piece) off, flip the perch to the top and make sure the spring seats in the bottom grooves correctly and it will be corrected. Also you're going to have to readjust height because you will drop significantly correcting that.

Struts you can adjust on if you can manage enough room. Unbolt from the bottom and then move the locking perch to the desired spot and then spin the bottom piece up to it.

I tried adjusting the shocks, and the highest is spins leaves about 4-5" of thread. So my shocks still look like this. Is that really the highest?

If you think about it, the bottom cup part is what is threading up. Obviously you can't go higher than the space in the cup. But you most likely won't need to max out unless your drop is extreme. You have looked up how to correctly set droop right?

edit: and you should really install your rear springs correctly. The perch is not meant to take the impacts like how it will being in the bucket, who knows what damage that could do and what problems that could lead to later on.

I re-installed the springs today the right way. What do you mean by setting droop? Is there another term for it? If you're talking about pre-load, I thought pre-load on the rear OEM style couldn't be changed?

Basically just this from the DIY thread:
I received this set up info from JIC-Magic tech support,
which seems like a logical procedure to keep damper stroke near max. length.

1. Adjust the spring height FIRST.
2. after your spring ride height^ is set, adjust the damper length.
- place car on jack stands
- measure height to bottom of spring cup
- with a floor jack raise the spring cup 10mm (pre-load)
- adjust the damper length to fit this position.
That should be how much you are turning the base of the strut up the strut body.

So by adjusting the shock to fit that position, just spin it until the holes of the shock and the wheel assembly meet? I spun the threads on the shock all the way up, and I still had to compress the shock a good 2-3" to make the holes align so I could slip the bolt in....
