How often do rear endlinks go out?

Reason I ask is because I have a clunking sound from the rear and the tech at the dealership said those tend to go out. He pulled one of them out and most I could tell was that it was really dirty...and thats about it.

Well my problem is(i also have the rear axle click but thats whole different story) that when going over speed bumps are turning sharp sometimes a clanking sound can be heard(its not like the axle click) its like a metal on metal knock. And the tech said this may be the cause of it. Wondering if thats true/right at all or even possible.

A clanking sound would indicate a more substantial part failure. I would suggest inspecting your front lower control arms and compression rods. They are notorious for the bearings to fail, leaving you with metal on metal contact, not to mention it will throw your alignment out of whack.

If this turns out to be the issue and your mechanic missed it in his diagnosis, I'd be careful using him. This is a common problem on our cars and almost impossible to miss with a visual inspection if the mechanic is being thorough.

Easy to diagnose, remove the swaybar and see if the noise persists. At least one of my endlinks started clanking the moment I installed aftermarket swaybars. The endlink looked and felt fine when I removed it for examination. Eventually I upgraded to SPL endlinks, which make a different noise.

The noise is coming from the rear lol, my allignment is fine because my tire wear is even on all of my tires front and rear.

Ultimately I plan on getting the suspension fully done for the best handling and the least amount of roll. But I was wondering if anyone would know. Problem is I also plan on doing aftermarket sways. So I was wondering if I needed to replace these especially if it seems they might be the clunking noise makers.

Best bet is probably to replace them+sways, and see if noise continues, if it does, move on to the next. Also my compression rod bushings have been replaced under warranty at 33k? now at 41k

Anyone using whiteline endlinks or SPL?

Curious to know which would be better, the price difference is minimal.

The SPLs are noisy, but you only hear them rattling at low speeds. For that reason, I would try a different brand.
