Alignment question (offset steering wheel fix)

Hey guys, just got my alignment redone today.. When the tech finished aligning the car, the steering wheel was offset about 5 degrees to the right so I brought it back to have it fixed corrected. Anyway, the owner of the shop came out, grabbed a big ol' wrench and took off in my car without a word ( ) and came back about 5 minutes later and said "okay, you're good to go!"

So my question is... WTF did he do? I understand the steering wheel was crooked because the tech didn't center it prior to adjusting the toe, but I was under the assumption they would have to lift the car up and redo it. I guess I'm a little paranoid because it all went down kind of strangely to me, but was it that easy to fix or did the owner do something unorthodox that could have ill effects later down the road?

I should have asked the owner, but he just kind of walked away before I even had a chance to thank him... They were pretty busy.

BLah no one knows? I guess I'll have to ask the owner lol... But I wouldn't know if he's telling the truth or not.

We had a tech at my shop that used to do this all the time. If the steering wheel was crooked, he'd crawl under the car and adjust one side until the steering wheel was straight.

As you are thinking, YES it is changing the specs on the alignment.

In order to do it the right way, the alignment needs to be re-done on the front end.

he couldve gone into your car with a hammer and we would still respond the same way....the fact almost no one has heard of this most likely means its an unconventional way of doing/correcting an alignment

that being said, i think kicking your tires into alignment would have been more effective than what the shop did for you
