Rattling after rear suspension install? I have a pretty simple solution

You guys are going to think I'm nuts. I still half way don't believe that this worked for me.

I recently installed a set of KW Variant 1 coil overs and immediately noticed a lot of rattling coming from the rear of the car.

I read KW's install directions, and noticed a step where they said to install "foam isolator" in the rear. Well I didn't have that (not sure if they come with the kit new or not).

Anyway, I went to my local Michael's and picked up a couple sheets of 1 inch upholstery foam. Very easy to cut and stuff into places.

I jacked up the rear of the car, removed the wheels, and took out the struts. You'll notice a small square cavity above the struts. Probably 6 inches square and 3 to 4 inches tall. I cut 3 total 6 inch squares for each side and stuffed them one at a time through the mooting hole for the strut. After all three were in, there wasn't much if any space left.

I reinstalled the struts and went for a drive.

A good majority of the previous rattles and noise were gone! I really still don't believe it, but it worked well!

Total cost? $10.

I'm a happy camper and just wanted to share this with y'all in hopes that it'll help you as well!

That's weird, shouldn't have to do that. Make sure the top bolt of the actual strut is tight. If loose will cause ALOT of rattling/clnking.

I read and read on this and it seems a lot of people have this problem even after checking the top nut and such. Just a phantom rattle that can't be traced.

FWIW I don't necessarily think it's coming from the struts per se, but for some reason the little bit of sound deadening in those spots did help. I figured it was worth a try if KW's install instructions even had a step for it.
