03 G35x sedan shakining

okay, hello everyone.. im new to this forum so i guess ill start by telling you my name and ishh....
my name is gerard, im from New Jersey, im 22 and i love drifting lol

anyways, i bought a used G about three month ago and there was some thing wrong with the front suspension and i knew this before i bought it. i got one hell of a deal on the car, so after driving it for a little bit i noticed when i hit the brakes my steering wheel would shake and id hear a tapping on my foot under the floor board..the more i drove it the worse it got... so, i was doin some research and found out that it was my lower control arm bushing.. i spent $150 on all new front suspension bushings kit from ENERGY SUSPENSION.. well after 6 hours of installation i took the car for a test drive, at first it drove awesome, like brand new. then is started shaking again?!? at first i thought i did something wrong... but after further inspection, i noticed that my rotors were dark and smelt like they were getting way to hot. so i went and got new rotors and pads, and sure enough i had worped rotors i begun doing more research and i found out that there is a known over heating of the brakes prob and no cooling vents for the brakes at all!! so what i did was i cut holes in the lower part of the plastic wheel covers that sit in the fender...im having not one prob with the brakes so far, i think letting the air go threw the brakes is helping cooling alot and i suggest that if u dont upgrade ur brakes on a sedan u should consider doing this as well now the car drives like a dream, stops on a dime, and handling is alot better threw corners.. i just wanted to share my experiance with the prob i was having and how i used my brain too fix the prob for good..

thank you for reading

Glad to hear you solved your issues, though I'm guessing that your overheating problem was due to worn out pads and rotors, and perhaps boiled brake fluid, and had nothing at all to do with lack of cooling vents. Most street cars don't have extra brake cooling vents as they aren't needed unless you're tracking the car.

i thought the same..but the fluids were fine and the pads had alot of life left.i was thinking since the bushing coused the wheel to wobble when braking, it just heated them up to quickly.. and also coming to a stop and holding the brakes at a light after they have been heated cousing the pads to accually weld them selves to the rotor....i look at 50+ simular prob on other forums and they all related back to over heating of the brakes

I just thought it was crazy cuz it felt like a bad wheel bearing or something to do with the suspension but it was just bad rotors... I think they didn't think about the brakes when they made this car, there the same brakes that a Z or a coupe would have.. But those car don't weigh as much either due to the AWD system.

My point was that even though your pads were still ok, the rotors could have been close to the minimum thickness, which would increase the level of heat that they produce, thus leading to greater pad transfer (what some refer to as "warping") and faster pad wear.

Though there certainly have been some folks who wanted larger rotors/calipers on the 03-04 sedans, and have installed 05 calipers and rotors on them.

True.. All is well now that's what matters. The rotors did look warn a bit. I just don't wanna keep having this prob. So I got more air to cool the brakes just to be safe lol. Thanks man
