Coilovers or springs?

If i want to drop my car 1.5 inches why should i go the coilover way that so many of my friends are recommending me to do.. instead of dropping it 1.5 inches with springs? Trying to make a big purchase this week and need to make a decision

if you can afford it, go coil overs.

There are many more advantages of coil overs than just the drop. I did springs, and then coil overs, and now when I look back I wish i had of saved my time and money and done coils instead of wasting time on springs.

with coilovers you can fully adjust your suspension(depending on what kind of coilovers you get most are adjustable). Main thing to point out is you get better control and handling from coilovers. Majority of people don't see much of the difference until they go from lowering springs to coilovers. I try to tell people to skip the whole lowering springs phase. I guarantee that if you buy springs you'll be satisfied for a few weeks or months. But then it will hit you...just you wait and see. Save up some more and get coilovers. Lowering springs are for noobs.

theres more to suspension than just a drop. If you buy springs you'll learn the hard way. But if ALL you want is just a 1.5' drop and nothing more or less than go for springs. You don't need those advantages from coilovers if you want only a SPECIFIC drop.

The main advantage will be the increased life span of the suspension components. If you drop 1.5" on stock struts, those struts aren't going to last very long. Then you come to the point where you need to decide whether you want to replace with OEM struts, aftermarket struts or coilovers. Unless you install everything yourself, the labor cost will begin to add up when you do individual components at different times. Better off doing it right the first time.

Most coilovers offer multiple adjustments regarding ride height/damper stiffness and are fairly easy to work with.

Do coilovers last longer the stiffer you set them? Or vise versa
