Car Rubbing/Breaking by itself?

Gentlemen,

So when I am coming down an off ramp from the free way to the street, when making a left, my car appears to be rubbing or breaking by itself. There is a breaking sound and the car actually slows down, but its only when the wheel is in the radical left position.

Anyone have any clue whats up. For sure the tire is not rubbing because i checked when the car was parked by turning the wheels all the way in each direction.

Bad wheel bearings?

Loose suspension parts?

Have your ABS sensors checked. Sounds like your ABS system thinks one of your wheels is rotating too quickly relative to the others when you're turning left (or something like that).

No ABS light comes on. I probably should test whether it happens with VDC OFF or on. Honestly, im thinking more mechanical. Perhaps the caliper is loose and the angle hits the pad when turning, idk?

yeah try it with the VDC off. if it doesnt happen with it off then youve got an abs problem.
otherwise just inspect anything and everything you can visibly for now.

Ok the problem happened again and I noticed that the SLIP Light is on.

Things I have recently done to car.

New tires 265/40/18
Replaced both front bearings, had to touch ABS Sensor

I experienced a similar issue once - no ABS light. My local shop was only able to see what was happening with a diagnostic tool (consult ii?) that could read each sensor while the car was in motion. It turned out one of my ABS sensors had been damaged slightly, causing it to misread intermittently.

Intermittently on deceleration. It was my front passenger side sensor.

Did the ABS make a super loud "BRAKE-RUBBING" type noise when it did engage?

Also check the caliper to make sure it's not sticking/frozen. How many miles on the car and have the calipers ever been rebuilt?

Sounds like to me one of two problems.

I would guest it's most likely it's due to your tire size. VDC uses measurements based on a particular stagger. If you throw off that ratio, then certain driving will set it off more easily. And the brakes are what VDC uses to keep you and the car in check.

Maybe the ABS sensor had been damaged, but the first thing you should do is try to replicate the problem but with VDC off. Of course, don't drive like a crazy person and get into an accident!

If it doesn't happen when VDC is off, then it's probably not your brakes, but your tire size. The more you throw off your tire size ratio when compared to stock, the more likely the VDC will go off when you drive quickly around turns, accelerate out of corners, or other things like that. Even with stock sizes, VDC probably intervenes more than it should.
