Will be DIY-ing: '04 G Coupe Replacing Bushings, BallJoints, and Dust Boots
SubscribeSo after much research on the forums and with a lot of help from you guys, I finally have all of the parts that i need to replace:
-Front Lower Control Arm Bushings
-Compression Rod Bushings
-Compression Rod Ball joints
-2 Front Tie Rod Ends (Inner)
--->All bushings (Whiteline) were purchased from B2AutoDesigns
--->Ball Joints Were purchased from Autozone b/c of their lifetime warranty and heard of
complaints about the ebay ones here on the forums http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...3648_376835_0_
--->Tie Rod Ends (Moog) Purchased from AdvancedAutoParts
I was also advised about maybe changing out the ball joint dust boots, and after reading searching through the forums i was told to get these http://www.energysuspensionparts.com...p?prod=9.13130 I purchased these boots about a while back, only problem is i think these might be boots for the Tie Rod End ball joint and NOT for the Compression Rod ball joint
The boot is about the same width as the one on the ball joint, but it is only about 2/3 of the height.
Does anybody know if it will still fit on the compression rod ball joint? Anybody with previous experience using this dust boot? Please help, after being quoted almost $3,000 for this I decided i'd just try doing it myself and save me some $$$. I'm nothing remotely close to being a "mechanic" but i will be uploading pics and videos to help others in need. Thanks guys

Good luck. I will never do this install again without everything done in one fail swoop. I took too many trips to the store for other stuff I needed. I removed both the hubs and had someone else press in the new bushings.
Thanks for the support guys. Most people that know me know I have no previous experience with anything like this, but I refuse to split with $3K for this @ the stealer or a shop.

Gmotion, did u replace the compression rod ball joints as well? If so, did u use a diff boot? I heard the OEM's are crap. As far as the bushings go, I was thinking of doing the same. How much'd u pay to have em pressed in?Originally Posted by gmotion04

Just curious - how did your upper control arm bushings look when you did this work?
I just had my LCA inner and outer bushings replaced and while the shop was installing them, they pointed out that my UCA bushings had a lot of movement front to rear, and this after only 45K miles. I went ahead and replaced those too. Used Whiteline for all of them. Great bushings...really restored the solid suspension feel. My compression rod bushings were replaced at 31K, so I have a little more time on those for now.
How do you like the Whiteline Compression rod bushings? Do they make noise in cold weather?
