Tein vs Eibach Springs - Better ride quality and drop

Hi all,

I'm planning on picking up Tokico HP struts and one of the following sets of springs

TEIN S-TECH SPRINGS
Front: 1.2 in
Rear: 0.9 in

EIBACH PRO-KIT PERFORMANCE SPRINGS
Front: 1.1 in
Rear: 1.0 in

EIBACH SPORTLINE KIT
Front: 1.6 in
Rear: 1.4 in

I need some help and have a few questions.

1 - Which offers the BEST ride quality, less bumpiness, smoothest ride?
2 - Which drop is the best for something which isn't too low, or too high? I just spent a lot of time looking at pics on here but I see different ride heights for the same springs so I'm a bit confused. I want something where it's lowered so the top of the tire and fender lining is almost flush (maybe 1-1.5 inch gap in between).
3 - If I buy any sets of springs, how can I make the rear even and match the front height exactly perfect? I read about a spring mount mod, is their tutorials on this or more info on the site?

Thanks everyone

D

Save for coilovers but if you must get springs then compare spring rates and drops in the following thread:

Spring purchases can get confusing..350z versions seem to cheat you out of the full drop in the rear..
Im looking to upgrade my Tein H-techs(g35 coupe) version to some different springs...I want an even 1inch drop...No springmount mod etc..With good spring rates...Rsr down springs(g35 coupe version) seem to fit the bill..But vendors hear wont get back with me if they are available..

^^Since you're looking at your 2nd suspension modification, I would highly suggest you save a bit and get coilovers. Take it from someone who went the same route with my sedan, you'll be happier down the road. Since you are looking for a specific ride height not only will coils let you set the car exactly where you want it, but you will get adjustable dampening as well if you choose the right coil. There are other benefits choosing coils over springs like having the springs matched to the struts. Many aftermarket springs don't play nice with the OEM shocks and you end up with a car that looks nice but rides/handles like crap. You will also wear out your stock shocks prematurely if you induce any significant drop so for me, comparing the cost of new springs/shocks vs. a set of decent coilovers makes the decision even easier, especially if you are looking to get the RSR springs from Japan with the ridiculous shipping charge.

Yea I know coilovers make more sense, but really don't want to spend the $$ on them. Also I upgraded the shocks with the Tokico blues(350z version)...Blue dream if you had to go with springs which one would you choose between the Tein S-Techs(coupe version) or Eibach pro-kits (coupe or 350z version)?
P.S RSRs are out of the question now..lol.... Just want an even 1 inch drop on springs...

I would go with the Eibach springs for the Z. The rear might be a tad higher than the front, but that's easily corrected with the spring mount mod. Not a hard mod but a pain unless you have a sawzall.

I see you already made your decision, but to answer your question, some things that make springs comfortable is to try to end up with a wheel frequency around 1-1.5hz, and also if you aren't replacing the shocks, to get springs where the high speed damping ends up at about 20-30% critical damping.
