Front-end Rumble not the usual suspects...
my 2004.5 coupe just hit the 140,000 mile mark so I bit the bullet and replaced all 4 tires on my stock 18" rims... while they were in the shop being installed and balanced I went ahead and replaced all 4 sets of brake pads and caliper pins...
...and just because I've read all the horror stories.. replaced all 4 wheel bearings.
(DIY sticky on the bearings was great, BTW... had everything done and was picking up my rear bearings at the press shop when they called and said my tires were ready for pick-up)
I can't remember a time when my G was sooo quiet! It's quiet enough that I can hear a new noise that I can't figure out. I've spent a couple hours reading the forums and, while some posts allude to the problem I'm having, no one has coughed up a solution. So... here are the symptoms...
Low volume rumble
Rumble is not felt in steering wheel or brake pedal
Rumble is felt in seat.
Passenger can hear and feel it too.
some times appears to be more prevalent on one side or the other and will switch sides during a trip.
Rumble is not constant. It is a pulsating sound.
Rumble does not start until car reaches 45 MPH and gets louder with increased speed.
Pulsating stops all together when turning left but increases in frequency when turning right.
(In other words, at 85 on a straight section of interstate pulses 1-2 times a second, but in a right curve it pulses 4 - 5 times a second and goes quiet in a left curve)
I'm at a loss but, I've eliminated the usual suspects and fully described the problem so, hopefully, we can all get an answer to this one.
Thanx
