BECK/ARNLEY compression rods

Just wondering if anyone has any experience/reviews of the BECK/ARNLEY compression rods. I'm thinking of ordering a pair but can't find any reviews anywhere. All I can find are some reviews on the Mevotech, which are apparently poorly made (i.e. the ball joint shaft is too long).

I'm curious as well.. but you know this is not a repair you want to do again, so you might want to go oem. you can just replace the bushings for $30 a pair plus machine shop pressing them in. I recommend getting a used set of rods on ebay first though as spares in case you need to cut the old rods off the car.

I wouldnt just buy used rods or get the bushings, at this point Id rather replace the entire rod since the ball joint is probably poop by now too

I've used other parts made by Beck/Arnley and were OEM quality, wouldn't think anything less about the compression rods being the same.

Just found out Gilley has used the Mevotech rods without any problems. Bythebay has also given the Mevotech rods a good review on amazon.

Im still thinking I should go with the Beck rods since people seem to think they generally have higher quality parts

I've installed a bunch of the mevotech lower control arms and compression rods, still haven't had any issues with them. In fact, I'm even running them on my 350z and don't have any issues yet.

The one time I did have problems was when someone brought me a set to install and they brought me the wrong ones. For a while there, they were listed incorrectly on many vendor's sites and people were buying 03-04 lower control arms for their 05+ rides - the taper on these two groups of cars is different, so the 03-04 will not fit 05+. You just have to cross reference on mevotech's site to make sure you are getting the exact part for your application.

if you had the choice would you stick with the mevotech or pay the extra $15 for the Beck?

I would save the extra $30 for better oil for the engine

Good to hear. I was about to spend $50 a piece for some new poly comp rod bushings, but at that price I'm just going to get these instead.

Bump to hear how aftermarket compression rods are holding up folks.

Looks like most in this thread went with Mevotech compression rods. Did anyone use Beck/Arnley or others? So many options on rockauto. I'm happy to pay for the best quality, short of crazy OEM prices. I'm thinking of just replacing everything on my 2003 sedan.

In general, is there a clearly better brand of aftermarket suspension parts for OEM ride quality, fit, and durability? Mevotech, Beck/Arnley, Moog, ACDELCO, others?
