OK, So! Before any rage comes, im here to just double check if this is infact my problem, because mine seems unique from all of these Knocking threads.

Problem: When I am driving, my car has a knocking sound (ONLY in a straight line! Not when I turn!) and it gets faster when I go faster. ALSO, we just did the bushing, and the noise started 10 hours from the time of install, so we took it apart, and all seems fine and dandy, everything is torqued and moves fine. Then I went out on a limb, and pressure washed the area of the sound AND the Brakes! sound went away for 5 minutes, then came back, then went away again and now you can only hear knocking when I lightly press on the brake, when I press it in all the way,. the knocking goes away.

DO I need new pads or what is the problem? And extra pics. idk lol

Replace those compression rod bushings.

 

NVm... Was being cocky... ofc thats the problem... QUestion, Is it Possible to repalce the Ball joing as well? Ive heard bad things about it so might as well change it?

 

You can not replace the ball joint on the compression rods.

 

I think I have the same, if not very similar issue to yours. I recently changed my compression rod bushings to whiteline compression rod bushings. I did not replace the ball joints, which I believe is possible to do but I do not have the part numbers. I also have purchased whiteline lower control arm inner bushings and the whiteline shock bushings as well but I haven't gotten those installed yet.

Ever since the compression rod bushing swap, I have this periodic knocking/popping noise while driving straight; nothing while turning. It's not rhythmic, just completely random. It could happen every 10 seconds or 5 minutes apart. I also have that same noise when applying/releasing pressure on the breaks. Sounds like another type of knock. Not sure if it's all related but when driving over uneven pavement and small bumps at lower speeds I have the suspension knocking/rattling that people claim to have. I know it's not compression rod bushings since those have been changed. I know it's not endlinks as I have swapped those out as well. My next guesses include: the above bushings I have to replace, shock and lca inner, bad or loose shocks, even though there doesn't appear to be leaking, sway bar bushings, motor mounts, bad calipers.

I guess it could be anything but our situations sound similar. I don't see many posts about people having a knocking noise while driving straight.

 

sounds like it could be the wheel bearings. Is it a period squeaky sound?

 

nope no squeaks here, just a knocking sound thats all. It actually now went away, it only reappears when I brake -.-

 

I have a squeak/creak when I shift from park to drive (5AT) and when i go over speedbumps but it sounds more like the rear vs my other noises seem to come from up front

 

I just ordered full bushing set, so I will replace and come back to you guys in about a week ~
