Suspension & Bushing Replacement

I have a 2004 G35 Coupe AT Non-Brembo. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a proper suspension replacement/upgrade with bushing replacement as well. My suspension is shot pretty bad and the last time I took my car for maintenance the guy told me I need to replace my bushings.

If someone can please recommend something that they have bought recently for a good price then I would be very grateful. There are a lot of threads and searching for a good deal that is still available is hard. I would like to be able to adjust ride height and suspension stiffness but if it's a good enough deal then these options aren't necessary.

Thank you in advance.

I would avoid energy suspension. Whiteline is the way to go on these cars. search for some reviews.

+1 on Whiteline bushing recommendation. They are a little pricier, and I have yet to see a post about catastrophic failure. Also feel comfortable recommending OEM replacement compression rod and front lower control arm inner bushings. Both have been significantly revised and don't have the same issues as the earlier 03/04 ones did.

Thank you on the OEM replacement recommendation for bushings. Did you guys get a mechanic to push in your new bushings? I got quoted like 700 to replace my bushings at firestone awhile ago.

Also, what do you guys recommend for a nice budget replacement for suspension?

A friend of mine has a hydraulic press, so I did mine myself. I was quoted $250 labor to replace my bushings if I brought him parts. So $700 seems high, unless they're doing front and rear and including parts in that estimate.

Rockauto has pretty good stock quality replacement parts. For aftermarket SPC makes good adjustable suspension pieces.

I have a set of lower control arms for the front. I can do the front bushings for you and ship out the control arm. All you have to do is replace them and ship your old lower control arms back to me. PM me if you are interested. If you are mechanically inclined, it's cheap to buy yourself a harbor freight press for around $70 and do them. It's very simple.

It wouldn't really make economic sense to buy the dies and press for one job. That $70 one is the 6 ton. The 6 ton would work if you know what you're doing, but if you bind the old bushing your screwed. The 12 ton can unbind a bushing, but not a bound press die (in a case where you may use a die that's slightly too big), so you still gotta be careful to measure the bushing race properly.

The 12ton is $129 and you can find a 20% coupon in the mail. Still cheap, but its kinda big. Best if you have a garage.

So everyone is an agreement that the lower control arms for the front are the main issue causing the noise for all of our cars or does it vary from car to car which bushings need to be replaced? Also, I was wondering if I get a sway bar would it replace the control arm? Thanks

Lower control arm bushings, and compression rod bushings are the most common culprits.

Sway bar end links, compression rod ball joints, outer tie-rod ends and steering knuckle ball joints are also fairly common.

Upper control arm ball joints, sway bar bushings and shock mounts, while less common, have also been known to be a problem.

Just change it all. Haha

I'm not looking to spend all my money on control arm parts. I found out that it was just my driver side lower control arm. Now I just need to find a decent set of struts

Well if $400 is all your money, the next thing I would suggest is selling the G.

No need to replace your entire control arm - save yourself money. Just go with better bushings. As mentioned many times the WhiteLine Bushings Here are the best around for our cars. If you have access to a hydraulic shop press it is fairly simple and straight forward in swapping them out.
