A little brake help requested
A little brake help requested
Good afternoon fellow G/Z drivers. I need to lean on your experience & expertise for something that I haven't been able to find an answer to as of yet.
I have a 2003 coupe with the Brembo package and broke yet another wheel stud. I don't feel like paying someone to do this again even though it's only $50. With that being said, I am definitely NOT a brake guy! Logically this doesn't even make sense to me seeing as how I replaced the entire front suspension in the driveway while laying on my back...lol! BUT it is what it is...so here's the question.
All of the videos I have seen and threads I have read through (G/Z related or not) seem to be getting the caliper, pads, etc. off and then move on to the wheel stud replacement part but neglecting the reassembly part. Thankfully I understand all of the disassembly stuff. That's the easy part! My question is when it comes to putting everything back together. Once the new stud is in the hub assembly, do I need to:
1. Treat it as though I just did a brake job and bleed everything out when putting it back together again?
or 2. Just simply put the rotor back on, reassemble the caliper, put the pads back in, mount the wheel and go along my merry way since it's not a new rotor/pad install.
Any help or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! To clarify though, I do need to remove the pads from the calipers before removing the caliper from the rotor correct? And then just reassemble in reverse order? With no need to bleed anything? Sounds easy enough...
Sweet! I was under the impression that the pads would come out once I took the caliper off. Guess I really need to get more hands-on with the brakes. Weird that I haven't...they've always kinda scared me which is strange since I had no probs getting under the car and changing spring, shocks, struts, inner & outer tie rods, compression rods, UCA's & LCA's. You would think the brakes would be a walk in the park...but alas they are not...for me at least.
Thanks for the help amigos!
Thanks for the help amigos!
If you used a spring compressor on the rears (which I don't think you have to) then it's the exact same thing. Springs/struts are easy compared to brakes for me lol
