2005 Infiniti G35 Sedan Rear Noise/Cracking - Help! (Video Included)

Hey guys,

I have a 2005 Infiniti G35 sedan, everything is stock with 91k miles on it. There is a cracking noise coming from the trunk/rear seats/rear window area. I hear it when I take a turn or go over a bumpy road. Take a look at my video:

Any idea what's causing that noise?

Thanks!

I just replaced the rear shocks (KYB) on both sides, and I can still hear the noise when I go over a bumpy road or take a turn. My mechanic removed everything in the trunk and rear, but could not figure out what it is. He said nothing is loose and everything is in place. He said he gave up...
Sigh...

I'll keep you posted

I have a similar noise and haven't been able to track it down due to time. Culprits I've though of are seat belts, rear shelf, or things like that.

Update: problem solved! The noise is gone finally! A user named Blue Dream in this forum was right. In another thread he said, "sedans have a grey X brace behind the rear seats. Over time the bolts holding it tight can loosen and cause the same sound you're describing. The fix is relatively simple, remove the rear seat backs, tighten the bolts with a little Loctite, and put the seats back."
