Exclamation 2005 6MT G35 knocking sound (Video attached) any ideas?

Just got my 2005 G-ride. I love it.

BUT, she has started this lovely engine sound as of recent, after warming up...

Last time I checked, the VQ35 was not a diesel engine.

CarMax is going to fix it, but at first they told me 'its normal operating noises'.

Any one have a similar issue, or might know just from hearing it what it could be?

(I'm thinking timing guide, or rocker needs adjustment.. maybe also a coil pack/spark plug loose?)

UPDATE: Carmax says they 'can't replicate the problem', so they are sending it to an Infiniti dealer at no cost to me for the warranty work.

Lets hope the good ol'e boys down there can get this VQ straight!

It's the clutch and it will periodically do this from time to time . It's called clutch
chatter . It is just something that most of the G's do . Normally its a little louder
when the clutch has been replace with an aftermarket clutch...nothing to be
worried about though . Just make sure to check that oil though

The car drives perfectly though, no issues with clutch grab or shifting, even when dropping to high gear at low speed, it responds correctly and normally.

Once I get Infiniti to tell me whats up, I will post the findings.

Thumbs down

Bad news. It was bottom end engine issues all along.

Copy of my Facebook post regarding this..

Well... Here is the horror story 💔..

Two days after getting the vehicle, I noticed a loud knock in the engine..
I took it back to Carmax and asked them to fix it, they said, "No problem."

After a week of him-hawing around, Carmax told me the car needs a new engine!

"That's ok, just put a new one in, and we'll be good to go." I said, excited that I could get even more years out of her with a newer motor.

"We won't do it. The cost is more than the value of the vehicle, and it will become a huge liability for us to pay. Since the car is within the grace period, we will just place you in a new vehicle."

Not at all what I wanted.. 💔

So, with high spirits I searched high and low at Carmax for a viable replacement. Alas, there are no vehicles with the features, color, and transmission I desire.

So after all that excitement, getting the exact car I wanted, I have to let her go. 😢

Ugh..............
Just really sucks. I was looking forward to having the car. I will have to wait until a better deal comes around I guess.
