BASE ACURA TLX NOW WANT A G35 AGAIN THOUGH
Brembo Rear Brakes And Rotors $1,400.00

Does this sound right?
There was no warning or grinding noises until Monday.
Took it to Peninsual Infiniti...said it's down to metal-to-metal...original estimate was $70.00 to inspect and $400.00.

Now they tell me I'm looking at $1,444.00 just for the f'n rear brakes...!!!
I'm "FURIOURS"...WTF...???

Should it cost this much to replace them at only 24,000miles?
I've already replaced the front brakes that was under $500.00!

GEEEEEEZUS...!

What are they installing, gold plated rotors? I'd say that sounds outrageous, considering you can get Stoptech Aerorotors for $836. What is the itemized estimate (parts and labor) they're giving you?

FYI - You can get new pads and rotors for a lot cheaper:

Brake Pros Rear Rotors ($437/pair):
http://performancenissanparts.com/ca...roducts_id=363

OEM Brembo pads ($95.50):
http://performancenissanparts.com/ca...roducts_id=350

I'd say, at $1400, that's a heck of a lot of labor!

If it's rotors and pads, I'm with G35fromPA, the cost is too much.

Are they throwing something else in like other servicing, replacement of pads, alignment?

Damage to the caliper pistons maybe? Could be a piston rebuild?

I'm supposed to pick the car up tomorrow.
They had to fix my emerceny signal button was part of it like $70.00
I'm going to itemize everything and b***h like hell.
That's 2 car payments / mortgage for BREMBO REAR'S?

You'd think that BREMBO would state on the MSRP "be ready to pay $1,500.00 @ 24K it's not covered under INIFNITI warranty.

I'm I the only one pissed about this?
If there isn't a campaign from BREMBO owners to try and have BREMBO pay for this "DEFECT" as I call it, I'll start it and hopefully they'll hear us...

So here's what "PENINSULA INFINITI" told me...

1) They were able to "SAVE THE ROTORS" for now. It's currently at 2.5mm and recommend to change before it gets to 2.2mm - I told them not to do it. The pads for the rears came out to a little under $400.00 which is fine since they had to fix my hazard lights $70.00 labor.

My thoughts:
There was no warning or squeeking noises from the rears at all...!
$1,000.00 + for any brake job is "RIDICULOUS" and that's just for the rears!
Isn't the optional BREMBO package only $2,000.00 with the car new from the factory?

They said I must've been "SLAMMING HARD" on my brakes...i'm like that's BS I down-shift more than slam on the brakes..!

My Question is this:
How many months or miles do I have left before I "MUST" change my rotors? Again it's at 2.5mm....recommend to change by 2.2mm. I'm going to switch to slotted rotorz and I'm going to check with ZCARGARAGE..

Is the $400 for both rear rotors or each?

Thanks for your help guys!

Again, with pads at around $100 for the rears, what the heck does the $300 for labor get you? A pad change is 45 minutes, tops. That should be less than $100.

Even if you had been "slamming hard" on your brakes, the front brakes would be doing most of the work, due to weight transfer under braking. The rears only do 15-30% of the braking, so they would not wear out that fast. Also, for future reference, it's not a good idea to slow the car down with the transmission. It will wear out your clutch and gears a lot faster, and those are still much more expensive than your pads and rotors.

Good luck!

G352NV, which pads and rotors did you wind up getting? I just got my irotors in Friday, but still deciding on the Pads. I have a set of PBRs in Grey, but looking for the dust free. Thanks

Ok here's the new situation.
I talked to "randy" over at brakewarehouse.net today.

For the fronts slotted and drilled rotors they're $176.00 each

For the rears they're $161.00 each -

He recommended knickle platting the rotors for $22.00 extra. I live in SF and the car is parked on the street..and yes we have "FOG" here so he recommended I get them knickle platted.

Now another good thing with "Randy", he offered to send the brakes first and will charge my credit card within a certain time frame.

Has anyone ever used brakewarehouse.net?
Also, is it true that I should get new pads again when these are installed?

Thanks for your help.
