As far as I can remember reading, the only brakes that has free replacements are the 03-04's. The brakes were upgraded in 05 with larger rotors so we shouldn't have any of these issues. I don't think we will be getting free brakes either on the 05's. Of course, this excludes the Brembo's. If you have those, you are out of luck. I also don't see alot of brake dust either on my car. It stops like a champ too.

That is correct, just the '03 and '04 had the brake wear warranty, the '05 does not. I believe the brakes on the coupe and sedan are the same, also the calipers are larger as well, I think, but having owned an '04 and now an '05 Sedan, the brake dust issue is gone, even after two weeks, the wheels are just "dirty" on my '05, no black front wheels, they do stop a little differently as well, these brakes are more progressive, the '04 they just grabbed, I always had to concentrate to do a smooth stop, they still stop pretty good, and that's fine with me if it means longer wear. I like these brakes much better!

Glad you agree :-)

Here, read what happened to me and this will tell you everything about the 05 brakes:

https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-coupe-v35-2003-07/66605-05-braking-power.html

So, I guess us 05 owners are better off without the Brembos (since they stop just as well) but doesn't have the negatives (brake costs, dusts, etc.). However, if you are tracking your car, of course I recommend better brakes.

Average for 03-04 brakes is about 25-30K miles... at MOST I have seen high 40's... lowest, 15K miles... it all depends on the kind of driving you do (lots of stop and go) and also how you apply your brakes (soft draging brakes or shorter abrupt stops...)

From my experience, Stop Tech rotors can get 50K easily out of them and usually last 2 sets of pads.

PM for some pricing!

I was on my second set of rotors at 44K miles! The early G35s, 2003 -2004s ate rotors for snacks!

Brakes definite brake upgrade

I am also thinking about replacing the rotors on my 03 coupe. Ive seen a brand called EBC and I was wondering if anyone else has heard of this brand. If so, feedback would be great. Im going to replace my std brakes w/ ceramic brakes and Im looking for slotted rotors. Any suggestions on the brand EBC?

Im also thinking about just keeping my stock rotors and going w/ a good ceramic pad. Does this sound like a bad idea? Will there be additional wear on the rotors? Ive heard that the infiniti rotors are kinda soft.

Suggestions???

Won't ceramic eat through the rotors like hot butter?

Just thot I'd throw out some #'s that I just checked. . .

With a stoptech stage II rotor setup and about 60k miles on 'em, I'm still at ~23.4mm on the fronts (OEM range 22-24mm, where 22 is replace). Granted, I've had fairly normal driving habits for a few years now, but still. . .I'd guess that they'd last about 50k with a ton of abuse, like Jason@Riverside said.

so now i'm a little confused. my coupe is almost at 31,000 mi now. i will probably have to replace at least the pads by the end of the year. i wanted to get upgraded rotors, pads and SS lines but is that a waste of money? since it's only my first pad replacement should i just get my stock rotors resurfaced? will the new pads outlive the stock rotors if i get them resurfaced or should i just go ahead with the entire brake upgrade?

My 04 G35 is just under 30k and two month out 3year warranty factory. The back brakes are noisy and I can hear a wear indicator from the fronts. I was given a link to R1concepts - never heard of them before, but googgling did not return anything bad.
My local OC dealer is a rip-off artists - quoted $750 for fronts and 350 for rear (without looking at the brakes - automatic rotor and pad replacement for fronts). I did not realize that 03-04 brakes are way undersized for our cars. There was a class action law suit filed in CA back in 03-04 for brake difficiencySo, any after market rotor better be 3 to 4 times more rugged than OEM 'butter' stuff.

I agree, I have seen the R1 concepts website and now Im looking at the PowerSlot "Slotted" rotors. I have an 03 and my brakes are noisy and I just really want the noise to be gone. I know that infiniti has a brake deficiency, and I would love to put the 05 or 06 brake system(rotors, brakes) on my car. Has anyone thought about that? I hear that the 05-present rotors are bigger than the 03-04 rotors. If i was to go afermarket, I would consider buying the Performance OE replacement rotors and hope that they have hold up well.

The 05'+ brakes are direct plug'n'play replacements for the 03-04. You just need to get the brackets with the calipers. But the 05+ brackets are a direct fit for the 03-04. Once you install those brackets, you can install the calipers and rotors from the 05+ as well.

(At least for the coupe, I don't know about the sedan)
