05 Brakes: Squealing at 3500miles !?!

My latest car problem is noisy brakes. I have noticed in the last couple weeks that when my car is hot and I push the brake pedal to about 1/4 way down I have a loud squeek/screetch which goes away if I push down more. Its really embarassing and pisses me off. I stuck my head out the window and am pretty sure its the rear thats making the noise. I'm thinking it could be cracked pads, glazing or even dust. Either way I shouldnt have this problem at 3500miles of gentle driving. I'm due for a oil change so I guess I'll bring it in. Has anyone had this problem on their 2005 Coupes. Any advice is appreciated.

ditto here...

one thing you can do and it gets rid of the noise is...

goto an empty lot or road... put car in reverse and drive around 20 mph then apply the brakes firmly.

this resolved the squeaky noises for me.

ppp

05 Sedan brakes are similar. I have had some squeaking but I only seem to hear it when it's hot outside (> 85 F). Took it to the dealer, they said the rotors were glazed, so they lightly machined the rotors and burnished the pads (on the front). It didn't do a damn thing and when I said that didn't work, the said "hmmm.. well good luck with that".

i took it to dealer many times and didn't solve anything.
they told me that coupes may have squeak sound because of high performance brake
system..(i think thats just bs)

Hmmm . . . 7300 miles thus far with no problems. I'll be keeping an eye on this issue. Thanks for the heads up.

04 5AT- I have these squeeky brakes too. Does that reverse trick really work? I'll give it a try if it ever stops raining here in Jersey.

the brakes make noise. they also coat the wheels with brake pad dust. it's just one of the joys of high performance hardware.

I read that there is a class action suit involving the coupes brakes (I think for the 03/04 models ) but it also seems that the 05's are having some of the same issues as the 03/04's...

all high performance brakes wear out quickly, make noise, and put our break dust. Its just what they do. Theres nothing wrong. If you wanted luxury you should of bought the sedan.

Possible reasons in no particular order:
1.) brake pads are glazed. Solution - find an empty parking lot, speed up a fair bit, and slam on the brakes. Do this procedure 2 or 3 times. If the pads are glazed this will solve the problem.
2.) brake pads are worn. Unlikely though since low mileage.
3.) Rotors are warped or slightly bent. Rotors can become warped if you do not drive the vehicle for a long period of time. This happened to my Celica after storing it for 3 months. Solution - see if can be machined, if not buy new rotors.
4.) Some pieces, (shims or pins are they called?) in the brake pad area need to be re-oiled. Sorry not exactly sure where, but this was a possible solution given for squealing on aftermarket big brake kits.

5.) As the above member posted, high performance brakes wear out more quickly.
