My brake dust problem is resolved!

Installed Metal Matrix pads all around last Thursday. Sorry I didn't do it sooner!

Almost no dust! Price was right! Braking force is equal or better than stock and seems more linear. (I'm still breakin' them in.)

Got them from Adam at Stillen.com ...

Re: My brake dust problem is resolved!

I recieved my Stillen catalogue the other week. I've been dreaming
about the Stillen brake package: Rotors, Pads, Lines and Fluid.
I wonder if purchasing this kit will solve the brake issues? Also
wonder if your new Metal Matrix pads will chew through the
Stock rotors?

God I love this car!

Re: My brake dust problem is resolved!

I was happy with my G's stock brakes, but not the brake dust.

I changed out the front pads and, since the cost was so reasonable, decided to do the rear's at the same time.

Stillen website quotes the "non-track" front pads at $55.00 and the rear pads $52.00.

I just talked to Adam. He says he can discount the internet price. Give him a call... 800.711.4126

Re: My brake dust problem is resolved!

A question here: how can different brake pads solve the dust issue? All brake pads produce dust - its the way they work. Maybe these new pads produce a different color of dust which is less noticeable? Any ideas?

Yeah. Different material, makes a finer-grained lighter-colored dust. Much less noticeable.

Soft pads, more dust.

Soft back pads, more black dust.

Harder pads, less dust.

Harder grey pads, less gray dust.

Works for me!

Re: My brake dust problem is resolved!

What about rotor wear with harder pads?? Pretty expensive to replace rotors vs. pads.

Re: My brake dust problem is resolved!

My winter car is a 2002 Ford Escape 4x4. The factory pads on this truck are absolutely terrible regarding brake dust. You can literally wash the wheels, drive in stop-and-go traffic for 2 miles and your wheels would be coated with brake dust again.

I simply swapped out the factory pads with a set of Raybestos PG Plus pads, and now the brake dust issue is resolved. Sure, the brakes still produce dust, but not NEARLY the same amount as the stock pads. Plus, there's zero brake noise (stock brakes were quite as well) and I feel that the braking ability was not compromised at all.

I wonder if Raybestos makes pads for the Brembos?

Re: My brake dust problem is resolved!

Completed seating my new Metal Matrix pads this morning.

Babied the brakes for the last week. Then, on my favorite "test" road, I completed several hard stops from speeds well over the posted and national limit.

The results... improved stopping power and no measureable amount of brake dust. Inspected the rotors... look good, no scoring.

I'm a happy camper!

Re: My brake dust problem is resolved!

I just got my Greenstuff pads for the Coupe, non brembo. Whats oinvolved with proper seating or bedding of the pads. I have little experience with this, but am pretty handy.
