Tein Coilover rear noise?

Hello,

Over a month ago I had the Tein CS coilovers installed on my 04 6MT coupe, everything in terms of comfort and handling is just what I anticipated.

I posted a little why back a question about a noise; in particular a rattle type sound in the rear when going over bumps or driving on slighty uneven surfaces. A few replies mentioned this was normal w/coilovers and no solution or details to backup.

After asking around some more (installers & shop that sold me the coilovers), I've been told the noise has to do with the pillow mounts and is normal for a coilover system, can anyone confirm this? My installer said coilovers are designed for track with smooth surfaces, street driving = noise.

They advertise this system as "TEIN adapted a hard rubber upper mount for noise proofing and mono-tube type shell case to heighten road holding." Before I purchased/installed this system I was under the impression quite ride....I find this misleading.

Is it really the pillow mounts or am I being mislead? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I just installed the Flex and had a similar noise. My problem was that the metal seat at the top of the rear shock (visible from the wheel well when installed) was loose. There is a nut above it that needed to be tightened. Problem is that you have to pull the shock to get to the nut. Not a big deal, but kind of a PITA.

I'd bet that you are having the same problem.

When you take the rear shock out, you will see a nut right in the middle, on top, where the damper adjustment **** is.

oh that nut, lol. alright.
and I have been reading around it I guess it is more common for people to have coils that are completely quite. I will try this, but I guess Im just more concerned that it is nothing too harmful or irregular.
