broken end link, need help asap!

itook my car ot the dealer for a 30k service and they told me i had a broken end link and bracket. they said it wuz cuz of my aftermarket sways, hotchkis.

i remmeber reading on the sight that you could purchase something to keep the sway bar from sliding around, i think other manufactureres come with these stoppers. if anyone knows where to buy these parts or what i should buy to fix this problem, like new end links or something like that, it would be greatly appreciated.

thanx again

can you tell me a few things...

1. when you say broken, what do you mean? was the endlink in 2pcs?

2. did you notice any change in handling since you put the swaybars on?
Im kinda trying to figure out why you wouldn't notice that it broke.

3. did you notice any noise prior to getting the 30k service done?

4. wat setting were you (are you) using?

endlinks are easy to place, so are the brackets.

If you need to replace them, I'd suggest upgrading them all to either '05 parts, or the Nismo ones that have spherical bearings...

1. my tech at miller infiniti on vanuys in sherman oaks, gene lee just called me and told me the driver side end link and bracket were broken and need to be replaced, so im just goin on what he said.

2. i did notice a dramatic increase in handling. i loved it. i dunno why i didnt notice it was broken.

3. i did here some noise from the fron and the back, i though it was just cuz i hadnt lubed em in a while, which im doin as soon as i get the car back.

4. stiff and stiff.

so, i hope this helps get an answer.

so which ones do you think are better? nismo or 05?

do i have to get upgraded bracket and end link or jsut end link?

are the 05 parts are compatible ?

thank you so much for you quick response, thanks for even responding, its greatly appreciated.

p.s. i ordered the mcmarter-carr( i dunno what the name is) collars so there wont be any more sliding aroudn of the sway bar.

thanx again

yeh, not sure why you wouldn't have noticed if it broke.

Id recommend getting aftermarket ones, the ones that are
adjustable.

hummm... im mostly interested in the rears because i have the rear set at firm....but looking at the infiniti parts store online list (one of the vendors here) 03-05 apparently are using the same part number. It's possible that the sports package is different?

Performance Nissan has adjustable endlinks for the front and rear. All you need is one for the front and one for the rear. Since they sell by pairs, try selling them on my350z.com, lots of people are looking for them. I sold mine fairly quickly.

im looking for robustness so probably keep the pair.

Any mention of the Nismo adjustable end links HAS to be tempered with posting their selling price.

Front's $160
Rear's $150

Just checked Everything Nissan Online parts...
They show end links for 03 - 04;
and a separate listing for 05 - 06 (no part # though)

I carefully examined the differances between my oem 03 end links and the revised end links I replaced them with. Nothing was their for me to say they were any more robust then the parts that came off, though who's to say Nissan didn't improve manufactuering processes, I dunno. The bolt's that went into the sway bar end's were a few mm longer. Given that my oem end links failed at about 24K, I don't think they will be the last set I have to buy. I just wish that the Nismo part's were a lot less costly. Though I'd hate to have a set of those to fail in the same way as the oem parts.

This from the Motorsports forum

My rear sway bar links got noisy after 10,000 miles or so, the stock replacements are cheap ($13.00 each) and have beefier joints than the originals. I guess Infiniti knew they were a weak link.

Triple8Sol
Frankly, I'm surprised that none of these aftermarket sway bar kits include new endlinks. So you're saying the stock Infiniti replacement endlinks are better than the stock endlinks that came with the car? I'm confused...

timm
Yup, must have been updated for '05 but they're definitely bigger ball joints than the originals.
