Experience with akebono brake pads?

An independent shop just recommended Akebono brake pads for my 2003 sedan. This shop is mainly a Nissan/Infiniti. There are only a couple of small threads on this topic. Anyone have any experience with this pad? They are ceramic. Most reviews are positive on tirerack, but only one was reviewed on a G35. Any reviews would be much appreciated.

OK, I will reply to myself! Just got the Akebono ProAct (ceramic) brake pads on the front of my 2003 G35 Sedan. Also got new OEM rotors. So far they seem OK. I picked up the car at 5pm and was in stop and go traffic, so I really couldn't test them out or bed them in. I did notice that they do not "grab" at slow speeds like the stock pads. The brake pedal feels more like...I guess some people call it a progressive feel. Definitely not as touchy. I was not able to get a sense of braking distance on a quick stop because there was too much traffic. But I do feel like I need to push the pedal a little more to get the same brake effect as before. As I mentioned before, not as touchy.

I guess there is no way to know if these actually stop the car better from 60 mph as compared to the stock pads without actual measurements. I do know that Akebono does make OEM pads for many companies. These are just the aftermarket version.

Anyways, I will let people know how they perform after a week or so....

I do not have G35-specific info to add, but I know many people that run these pads on sporty vehicles and have good things to say about them for their intended use (street).

Akebono Pads

OK, after only about 200 miles all I can say is that I really like these pads much better than the stock pads. As said before, the pads have more of a progressive feel, not grabby like the stock rims. Just like everything else, you have to get used to it. But most of all, the front rims are just as clean as the back rims! I have heard the brakes slightly squeak twice. But I cannot tell if they are the fronts or backs. Much better that the stock pads that were continually squeaking. Hopefully they will last more than 15K. Just a thought for those of you looking for aftermarket pads...

I have Akebono Pro Act on my SC430. I think they are pretty good pads but they are not a performance pads.

I have to press on the brake little harder. Luckly, Stock SC430 brakes are 4 piston.
