Stoptech BBK + Spare tire

So, for you guys with Stoptech BBK - what do you do with/for a spare tire? Does the doughnut fit with the Stoptechs? I'm a bit worried, since i don't have a full-size spare, and getting 14" stoptechs all-around would mean that I can be stranded with a flat tire anywhere anytime...

oh crap....i totally didn't think about the spare. I've got the 13" kit. I might have to go home and try to fit the spare front and back....if not I guess since Infiniti has free roadside assistance, I'll be relying on that.

Forget the BBK- go get the Unichip installed and tuned and post your results instead of worrying about "in case shlt."

If you must have a spare, I would suggest you purchase one aftermarket 17" or 18" wheel with the proper offset to clear the Stoptech calipers. If you are staying with your Volk's just buy a 5th wheel.

nope, the doughnut does not fit with the stoptechs. i have the 13" front bbk, and i got a flat about two months ago. let me tell you, it sucked big time not having a spare. i'm going to go out and put a cheap tire on my stock 18s and put it in the trunk. i had to get my car towed back home that night

No a full size tire does not fit in the coupe, but I do know that my spare tire on my coupe clears my AP Racing (Stillen) brakes.

For the sedan changing from the mini to full size means the trunk gets smaller. You need factory foam pieces to raise the rest of the trunk floor to keep everything flat. You can get a factory 17" with tire cheap. I know they will fit the rear Brembos brakes (probabally the front too?).

factory 17" won't clear 14" stoptech BBK. i need an 18" wheel and tire. i wonder if i can get an 18x7 or something like that so it clears the stoptech calipers front and back...

Doh! I never thought about the clearance issues either. Well, that one less mod for me.

kind of a big in-case ****. what if i get a flat while in the boonies somewhere... with no reception... have you *seen* the horror films?... lonely high-hiker... abandoned car...

no, i need a good solution. i also need brakes - both my pads in the front are *gone*. i am guessing i'm getting the wheels in ~2 weeks - it should last till then, more or less... as soon as the wheels ship, i will tell Rob of ZCG to order the stoptechs too. i need a solution by then. i would buy a wheel if i knew it would fit in the spare's space, and fit over the BBK.

and don't worry - Unichip comes next.

This is what I did. I had changed to 350z track rims, so I had my oem rims as spares.

I sold 3 of the rims, and kept the 4th. I put that one in the trunk. You lose half your trunk space, but I rarely haul stuff with this car.

I had one month where I had one Bridgestone totally blow out, and another get popped on the side with a bolt (freak accident). Good thing I had a full size spare.

I just don't trust that donut. The lost trunk space is no big deal. The backup of a real spare is well worth it, and paid off twice last year.

Were you able to find a cheap 18x7 tire that fits over aftermarket BBK? Are the '05 coupe spares the same as '03-04? I know the brakes on the '05 are slightly larger but not sure if they upgraded the spare too.
