aftermarket brakes

Are there any after market pads or routers that greatly imporve the longevity of the pad. Has anyone here experimented with ceramic pads and noticed a significat improvemtn in their brake wear?

Thanks

Oem is already ceramic mixture, you can always find harder pads that will increase the stopping distances. Careful about cold performance and required pedal pressure for first cold stop of the day.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a certain aftermarket brake that you have to be good and long lasting (just a pad, not a brake kit like brembo)? If so, about how much longer does it last than the OEM pads.

Thanks.

I don't think you will be able to find a pad that will last significantly longer. The only way to do that is to adjust your driving style to be gentler on the brakes.

Also keep in mind that with longer lasting pads you will also probably losing performance.

I have Project MU brake pads. They stop really well over stock. Gotta see how long they last though

"They stop really well over stock".......... what are you saying?
Unlikely that any pad made by any company will reduce the stopping distances in both cold or hot street stop from any speed up to 100 mph.

The G35 plain or Brembo is tire limited as turning off ABS will lock the tires at almost any speed assuming you apply the required pedal force.

Even the Pilot Sports [the PS2 version are better but still far from a 1.1 G stop] are not adequate to utilize the stock braking system without ABS cycles.

Every ABS cycle is a further lengthening of stopping distances.

Nissan went to extremes in pad selection caring nothing about wear/dust in their search to beat BMW.

Back to orginal question.

Brake pads have variable friction with temperature and their wear rates vary with temperature. Some are dramatic falling of a cliff at 500F some go to 600F some higher.

Due to trade secrets they never publish these parameters but everyone in the brake pad business tests everyone else's pad formula and try to tweek their formulas over time to copy the best while minimizing costs.

Risky to trust non lab testing and go with a posters recommendation as what they think is important may be different from your requirements.

Please understand that only Nissan actually test brake pads on the car, others just slap their secret formula on to a pad backing plate that fits and sell them. They may have a refrence car to test and compare [after lab work is done] but what is the likely hood it is a G35 with its exact brake pressure, weight, and system.

OK, maybe I used that phrase a little too loosely.

The Project MU's have a MUCH stronger initial bite. And I've noticed at the track, that I am braking a little later, and still pulling through the corners well. We setup brake points on the track marked with cones. I remember on my OEM pads I was braking before the cones, and now I notice I am able to brake after the cones. Maybe the brakes have nothing to do with it and I'm getting better, or maybe they do.

Just out of curiousity, do you like to just sift through all the threads on this board until you find one you can be technical about? Cuz I noticed, pretty much every single one of your posts are like that. Also you seem to like to post 2-3 posts after yourself with more updates. Do you just post something, then go research more info on that topic to post more?

Always research before I post a comment as I have moderated [two large Nissan'Infiniti sites] for the past 6 years, trying to raise the level here.

Search "Q45tech" on Google think you'll find 25,000 references.

I had Project Mu B-Force pads too and they lasted me about 20K miles.

When I was changing out my pad recently, I noticed that Fronts pads had about 10% - 15% left and rear had about 40% - 45%.

I also had Hawk HPS before Project Mu and when I was changing my pads on the Hawks, Front had less than 10% left and Rear had over 60% left.
