I've got a 2.5" drop in front with my Tein Basics.

Yeah I didn't word that right, glad you caught that. I ment to say, "min" front drop as in the least amount of front lowering you can do with Basics on a sedan.

That seems right on with my measurements.

Hi Dan,

I have an 06 coupe and I would do a drop of 1" in front and .5"-1" in the rear but my first priority is ride quality. I know that the G H-Tech won't quite give me that much drop, although I'm interested in the ride quality of the springs. I assume I would have to go with the G S-Tech to get that drop and lose the ride quality. Since, the H-Tech's spring rates are less than stock is the ride softer than stock and how much drop did you get? Also, what shocks are you using?

If you are still interested in selling your springs can you PM me?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark -

Please don't take offense, but you're getting this thread off topic. I'm trying to get a very specific question answered about Tein Basics and not a discussion of suspension alternatives. Do a search - there are many discussions about the very questions you are asking or start a new thread of your own. Thanks!

Mike

Mike, call Tein at 1-562-861-9161, see if John can help you. (didn't write down his last name sorry) Have a conversation with him and ask if you were to purchase a pair of longer front springs, part number SG090-01250
144, if it would be his professional opinion that you'd get the drop range you really want on your car. The part number is for the same type of spring, same rate that the basics come with in the box. BUT, they are 50mm or just shy of 2" taller. Ask John if it's within reason that you'd go from these specs
-1.6" front min
-3.7" front max
to
+0.4" front min
-1.7" front max

If you do call, I will be very interested in what Tein say's.

I'm also very interested in what Tein has to say about using the taller spring. If it's okay I'm definitely going with the Basics for sure.

I called them and they are looking at some spring options for the Basics. I'll probably hear back from them tomorrow...

Well - they hadn't called back yet so I called them back today. Sorry to keep you all waiting. Jonathan had to go find a couple of engineers and ask around a bit to come up with an answer. Turns out the 2" longer spring (P/N: G090-01250) wont fit right because it is too long. However, they did say that going to a 10kg spring (P/N: SH100-01200) that is the same length would work and would raise the car by about .6" or so which would be about stock height at the minimum drop. So then you would have a 10kg/9kg setup - or a 10% bias to the front compared to the standard Basics. Their MSRP is $65 per spring so double that for the pair. I asked about the dampening being off, but he said that shouldn't be a problem for the basics since the change isnt too large. Sooo, I guess that is the answer to my question! I don't think I'm going to pursue this setup just yet, but I have it in my back pocket if I ever get my mind made up. I hope this helps out!

Mike
