Is weight really a big concern for the tires? I am debating whether I should order Avon Tech M550 A/S or Continental ContiExtremeContact in 245/45/18. Avon's has better review and lower price but it's 31 lbs and Conti's are 26 lbs.

Weight is huge. Rotating mass that far out is going to make a big change in acceleration, braking, and turning. The exception is if you have lightweight tires that don't stick - the lower rotating mass won't help you out too much.

If you can get rid of a few pounds per tire, without compromising grip - your car will perform better.

thanks for posting the pic. Are those nice rims - what kind are they - cant see the center cap.

Also - does the outside lip allow for mounting weights or would you have to use stick-ons?

also also - does anyone have a pic of a 245 wide tire on the stock 18x7.5" rim.

Enkei RPM2, they are average quality and not very exspencive but offer a big bang for the buck. Nice and light at 19lbs each. The weights are mounted on the inside part of the rim.

Here's some pics of my 245/40/18 S0-3's on the stock sport wheels. I dont notice a bulge so it fine with me but if you want to take up more of the gap get the 245/45

I dont have any pics, but I had a staggered fitment on the stock 18x8 rims. I had GR-Beta 245/40 in front and 255/40 in back. You can't tell how much added gap...it'll probably bother you psychologically. Now I have Kazera KZ-A 18x8.5 and 9.5 with RT615 is the same sizes...I couldnt be more happier with them.

thanks - am not seeing the pic - can you please repost.

S-03 pole positions are awesome summer tires - friend had them on a turbo Z - how do you like them?

I would imagine that a tire with an aspect ratio of 40 would tuck in better than one with 45 - thus you may not see a buldge with a 40. I suspect though (just a hunch) that you may see a slight buldge with a 45.

my primary concern with a 245 wide tire is obviously in regards to any negative impact on cornering sharpness. Am hoping to get 245/45-18 pilot a/s.

thanks for your help so far.

Gdup35sedan - whoop - pics showed up as attachments in the section where I quoted you - so no worries.

tires seem to sit well on stock wheels - how much air are you using?
