My before/after 05Zspring/D-spec Alignment, + questions.
My before/after 05Zspring/D-spec Alignment, + questions.
here is my before/after alignment on my sedan on 05 Z springs/D-spec shocks with new 245/40 18 tires.
BEFORE MEASUREMENTS
Left Front Right Front
-.8 -1.1
Camber Camber
8.2 8.1
Caster Caster
.02 .02
Toe Toe
Left Rear Right Rear
-.7 -.9
Camber Camber
.01 .16
Toe Toe
-.07 (thrust angle)
AFTER MEASUREMENTS
Left Front Right Front
-.8 -1.1
Camber Camber
8.2 8.1
Caster Caster
.06 .06
Toe Toe
Left Rear Right Rear
-.8 -.9
Camber Camber
.13 .12
Toe Toe
.01(thurst angle)
My questions are, did I basically pay for an alignment and got nothing out of it? Also I thought on our cars toe for the front and rear should be negative, mine is positive? In some aspects did they make my alignment worse?

Here's what I see: Overall, nothing too serious. In front you got a little more toe-in and in the rear the toe was a bit off and you got more toe-in. Doesn't look like they know you have a camber adjustment in the rear, cause that didn't really change.
Is it worse?--depends. From a tire-wear perspective, your alignment improved things a little. From a performance perspective, you really didn't get much out of the alignment, exept for the better thrust angle. I'll explain.
The only negative numbers you should have are camber in front and rear. I like to set my front toe to 0.0 degrees, esp for autox. It makes it feel a bit more wandery on the roads, but the turn in is quicker. I am surprised they left you with such little negative camber in the rear. I would go back and have them dial in at least -1.5 degrees. You are going to have some serious power-on oversteer issues with the camber they way you have it now if you like to power through corners.
Thats my quick assessment.

Well I love to take corners, and based on this I am a little surprised. I have been going through the backroads real quick and my rear end stayed very planted along with the front end. I am thinking it could be that these roads are more of long sweepers and not 90 degree turns. Should I be concerned about having more neg camber in the front then in the rear? For right now I am not worried about the little neg camber in the rear because the car grips fine. Maybe when my new tires start to wear off I should get more neg camber put in.
^^ you're not turning like you mean it,that's why the rear's not breaking loose.
but that's fine, there's nothing really 'wrong' with your current setup. it's
how you drive your car which utlimately determines how you need to
dial-in your car. if it works for you, just leave it.

Exactly. I guess I'm coming from an autocross perspective where there are some tight turns where you really need to put the power down. No real need to change anything unless you find your back end coming out more than you like.
So what are your impressions now of the look and ride quality of the new setup? Does teh car look different now? Drive different as well? I am about to get the same setup but not sure if I want a lower drop like the eibach pro-kit
