Tokico D-Spec (w/ drop springs) vs. Tein Basic
Tokico D-Spec (w/ drop springs) vs. Tein Basic
I'm looking to drop my 05 coupe. i've read many many post. i pretty much just want a drop with some added performance. i want to do this safly (not going to blow anything) and "inexpensively". i've desided on the tokico d-spec shocks with tein 350z h springs, or Tein basic coilovers. please help me deside. thanks!
I just installed my Dspec/Htech(350Z) and I love it, I have it 5F/5R for now and it feels almost like stock with its ride comfort but turning is a blast, but I have the sport susp. package so it's already stiff at stock. I love the drop!!! it's perfect and look great (don't have pix yet). I paid 650 for both combo and you can't beat that price.
If you're planning to get the Tein Basic i'll rather get the Dspec/H-tech combo. The only way i'll get a Tein is if i'm getting the Flex or any higher model, plus Tein Basic will me much stiffer ride.

DO NOT go with Tein springs for the G. Make sure you get the Z versions, as the G ones are too soft in the rear. I'd suggest going with the DSP-9, the Z version of the D-specs as well.

Alas, the drop itself doesn't tell you much about the spring rates and handling capabilities of a spring, i.e. if your car is slammed on springs with D specs it doesn't mean it's going to handle better than the basics. In a coilover kit the springs and shocks are made for each other.
